Excellent work. Pergola is beautiful and very sturdy (drilled into concrete patio). Thor and his crew are professional and thorough. They really care about their work and are a pleasure to work with. The evening after they applied the stain, it started to rain. Thor came back and covered the Pergola with a tarp to give the stain longer to set.

Thor and his crew were very thorough and professional. It was their goal to ensure we received a cost effective, high quality repair - not in it for the money. They stayed on schedule and were very communicative throughout the process. At the end of the job, Thor was not pleased with a couple of things and came back the next day to fix them, making sure that we were left with a brand new shower. We would definitely use them again, as well as recommend them to others.

Thor responded right away and gave me a good price.  It was difficult to get him and his crew to show up due to his other projects.  The construction went very well and looks great, but he left paint splatters on my stained patio which did not wash off.

The work went well. We are pleased we the bathroom we have now. Thor made sure all the details we asked for get done. He brought the number of people needed for each chore each day and things went fast for the amount of work that was needed. All the workers were professional and tried to do their best.

I would recommend Lightning Carpentry to anyone who is looking for Remodeling or Carpentry work.  I will actively spread the word about the quality of the craftsmanship and the excellent customer service.  The entire project went very well and my family is very pleased with the results.

Thor gave a complete and through estimate, outlining and explaining all work to be completed.  He has a keen eye and made practical suggestions as to provide repairs that needed to be done.   He has a very competent crew and supervises them in a very professional manner.  Thor was present and working on the job each day.  He and his crew are fine craftsmen and are very attentive to detail.  The project was completed on time, and we are extremely pleased with the results.

My wife and I are retired and recently relocated to Athens.  We have had several houses over a forty year period and have done many home improvement projects ourselves as well as worked with numerous contractors.  Thor stands out in all aspects as a professional and ethical craftsman and contractor.  He has our highest recommendation.

From the moment I called to request an estimate, I knew I was in good hands.   Thor came to the agreed-upon estimate meeting on-time, and he additionally provided me a written (well, emailed) estimate in the agreed-upon timeframe to complete the work in 1 day.  The fact that he did everything he agreed to up to this point was very positive to me.  Despite that, I wanted to get an additional estimate in, so I was waiting a few days to make my decision (waiting on another contractor).  Thor followed up with me a few days after he sent the estimate.   The other contractor never did get back to me, so upon that call we set up the work to start on 10/24.  
On the day of 10/24,  Thor and two crew members arrived to start work.   They worked through the whole day, and because they were down one crew member, they had to finish up the platform and stairs for the weekend, and we scheduled an additional day to complete the railings and final finishing work.  The team came back on 10/28 and finished up the work. 
Overall, I can say that I am very pleased with the final product.   It feels much more stable, and looks a TON better.   I feel a lot more confident having a well-constructed deck that I know will last a long time.   I wanted to have some part in the project, so I plan on staining/painting it myself and Thor offered up several easily-purchasable brands to use to complete it.  The team was super-friendly - they put up with my hyperactive dogs a couple of times that they got out of the house without a complaint. 
I definitely recommend Lightning Carpentry - I just wish I'd called sooner!

Thor is the best.  I was out of town for the second half of the project and the project turned into more than he or I bargained for.  He handled everything brilliantly and I trusted him to do a great job.  When I got back I was blown away by the quality of their work. The house is a really unusual mid century modern that the other contractors who came by for quotes were completely scared of...some of them didn't even get back to me. This place was in Really Really bad shape with a large amount of wood rot, structural issues, and come to find out during the repairs...a large amount of termite damage. Thor and his guys totally saved the house.  Now that the project is over...I couldn't have imagined picking anyone else.  The work was top notch, the price was more than fair, and Thor is a great guy!!!  Don't waste your time with anyone else!

Our house and some of the fixtures we selected presented some problems. Thor stuck with it and resolved all the problems. His carpentry work is beautiful.

This was our second project with Lightning Carpentry and, once again, Thor gave us high quality work, on budget and on time.  He chose excellent subcontractors for the landscaping and concrete work, and we are completely satisfied with the result.

Even though this was a small and simple job he did excellent. The cabinet he built matches exactly the rest of the cabinets we have at home. He spent the time he thought it was necessary to make it useful, helpful and looks fantastic too. He came home to see the space we wanted him to work on and made measurements. Another company I called from this list had no people that could come to do the inspection of the place and they requested us to take a door from the kitchen and go to their office. So it was fantastic to find someone that wanted to spend a little time after his regular hours coming to see how he can help.
From the beginning he explained that because this was a small job we will have to be a bit flexible with the exact time of his arrival because he will take a worker at the moment the work in the other place is finished for the day. It worked well for us because we were able to put together the day he will come and the vast majority of the work will be done. So I arranged my schedule to be at home the whole day working at home and be ready when they were able to come the first day and for the second day I went to work and came back a bit earlier to receive him. He communicated very well. Responded phone calls or called back when needed and let me know when he was ready to finish his work in the other place and coming to our house. The day that they did the vast majority of the work they arrived at 4 pm and spent three hours. The work was pretty much done. The next they he came later at 6 pm and was done by 7:00pm. The last hour he really finished details and took his time to make the cabinet as functional as possible. He pays attention to detail. We have another project in mind and we will contact him in the future.

Thor took the original plans and transformed them into a work of art.  The house has been transformed from a rather ordinary home in the woods to a show-piece.  We could not be more pleased with the results.
