"We tried to satisfy this gentleman as best we could, but no matter what we did, he was not happy. He is a rare find in that he was hardcore all the way. The gentlemen was not nice, in fact rather mean. We gave up on him and sent him somewhere else. We generally do terrific work and have a very small error margin. We have been visited by over 50 counties in Georgia all with great success. We are always recommended by many customers who are very happy and satisfied. The gentlemen's jacket was not anything like he made it sound. I am glad that he found someone else who pleases him. One person doesn't reck your business because sometimes you just can't please some people. Thanks, Sharon Matsie for Irene's Custom Tailors"
When I went to pick up the shirts, however, they had all been taken in at the bust as well as the waist. It was like the seamstress just took out the pins and sewed in a straight line. Linda did her best to let out as much of the remaining fabric as possible, and had them re-sewn free of charge, but enough material had been removed that some were still too small in the bust and some barely fit. Most of these were brand new shirts (I have trouble finding button up shirts that fit in the waist without being too tight in the bust so I figured I could buy some that were big in the waist and have them tailored) and I can't even fully button some of them.
The rest of the work was satisfactory and I was very pleased with the attention and help and great attitude I received. I don't have much experience with tailors, but everyone I talked to was shocked by how much I paid (especially the $14 to have one shirt taken in at the side seams only).
If they hadn't ruined my shirts, they'd probably get an A in everything except price. I guess maybe the cost is partly to cover the extra work they do to fix their mistakes since they guarantee their work. I would probably go back to Irene's for minor tailoring on old clothes. I'm not sure if I will go back to Irene's again or not if I have a more expensive or irreplaceable piece; I'd hate to have something like a wedding gown ruined by someone cutting off too much fabric!
