The service went well and as planned. Jackson and his crew work well together, and I would recommend his team to anyone who needs tree service.

Response from Advantage Tree Service
"The Review is totally inaccurate. I performed all the work we discussed. I did not leave any limbs or wood behind. But, Yes my worker was not earning his money so I had to pressure him to help me finish the job. It was either that or for him to go home."

They arrived as stated cut down all of the trees without damage to any structures. Hauled off all of the limbs after cutting all usable wood to length for firewood. Ground the stumps smoothed and leveled the ground where the trees were.

He climbed a 110 foot dead pine and drop it piece by piece. Layed another dead pine down and a hard wood down. then took down a red oak leaning and hanging over my house, limb by limb. Took two days. Both of my neighbors have hired him to remove trees.

When I found this company on Angie's List, I did further research before calling for an estimate. The BBB gave it an A rating, and the company has a website. It appeared that the company was professional and reputable.
So I called the owner, Jackson Buice. He was able to come out later the same day. He arrived in a timely manner. He was knowledgeable about the disease my pine trees had, naming it. He spent time discussing all my concerns and really impressed me. The price he quoted astonished me also. (We had two trees cut down by a very well-known company several years ago. The company was removing trees from the neighbor, so I know we got their very lowest price (truck and crew already there) and we paid the 'big name company' quite a bit more per tree. We got an estimate for other trees at that time in 2006, and Mr. Buice's estimate was much less!) Even aside from the excellent price, I got a very confident feeling that Advantage Tree Service would do a great job.
Mr. Buice did not try to sell me anything or convince me, I mentioned trees that I considered removing and he totaled up the cost, absolutely no pressure. The price was good for several months, not just a couple weeks like some service companies. The reason for my tree removal was that the line of pine trees near my driveway had cracked, lifted and buckled the concrete. Several trees on the property had deformed cankered trunks and were diseased. Since I love trees and didn't want to cut more than necessary, I called in an independent arborist and paid him $30 to evaluate the pines that were on the property. Turns out virtually all of them needed to come out! I let Mr. Buice know we wanted all 12 trees taken out. He mentioned a time he'd like to do the work. That week it rained buckets for days. So when I called Mr. Buice about coming out, he said they would have to move it a few days to dry out.
The day we expected him, he came a little later than we thought, but apologized. He had a delay due to equipment trouble. But everything was up and running now. (I rated and quot;responsivenessand quot; as a B because a phone call would have been great to let us know). I was happy to see that Mr. Buice did the work himself, and was onsite almost the entire time of the job. He had two assistants who were also very hard-working. Mr. Buice carefully marked off our two septic tanks, the water line, and an electric outlet in our garden space. He worked steadily and carefully to cut down the trees.
My husband watched them for part of the time. He stepped into the house and exclaimed, and quot;He really knows what he's doing!and quot; Mr. Buice scaled several trees to remove the lower branches so they would not touch the house when the tree was felled. The branches were wrapped with ropes and cut and lowered with great artistry. We did have one tree fall on our driveway in a way that made a crack, but that was due to the unevenness of the driveway. It was already severely cracked, buckled and unlevel. A regular driveway would have responded differently to the tree. So we were not upset. Mr. Buice called it to our attention. He was professional and a person of integrity. In the rear of our home, he dropped the trees to avoid small trees around. He was very skilled!
One other story about their professionalism and integrity: The first day they did a lot of strenuous work. They were tired, I am sure. At the end of the day they blew off the driveway and loaded up to leave. As they drove down the street, the truck stopped and the men jumped out and began blowing off the nearby neighbor's driveway. They thought to look back and noticed a spot that needed clean up. They took care of it! Wow! On the last day of the job, without needing a reminder, Mr Buice scaled three trees and did some pruning as we talked about. He also had noticed where there were tree roots in the yard and offered to have those ground so we could more easily grow grass. He cared about doing a great job and helping us get our yard in good condition.
The stump grinding by Sorrow's Stumps was also great. That is who Mr. Buice used on our yard. The job took three full days. The men were respectful, hard-working, and thorough. We were VERY pleased with this company. I actually chose to pay him a little more than the quote because of the excellent work done. And he had given me such a wonderful price to begin with. I can recommend this company to anyone without reservation!

Cleanup was done very well and my shed was not damaged. The fence was put back up also. Great job and it was done in two days. Over all they did an outstanding job, considering the delicacy of the task. It seemed a little expensive, but was the cheapest quaote I recieved. Other tree removal company's wanted at least $1,000 to do the same job because the trees were rotten, fragile, and huge.

I must start by saing that all my dealings with Advantage Tree Service were with Jackson Buice. Jackson responded to phone calls promptly and professionally. He came out, did an estimate and when I decided to use his services we set up a date. We were in contact earlier in the week to confirm everything was on schedule. Jackson is a pleasure to work with; answering all my questions and concerns. He was prompt and efficient. He had everything he needed and all his equipment is well maintained. The tree was removed and all the debris cleaned up in just a few hours. I was impressed with the result. The estimate included the stump grinding and Jackson contracted out the grinding to Sorrow's Stump Grinding, who also did an excellent job (I will write a seperate review for this). I would most definitely recommend Jacson Buice and Advantage Tree Service to everyone.

From answering our call, to the estimate appt and then to the completion of the job - working with Jackson Buice was great. He was to the point, gave us opinions and information and made us feel like we were doing the right things to improve the appearance of our home. He kept us informed of his progress, made sure he understood what we wanted and got clarification on the bed we wanted cleared so that we were both understanding and agreeing to the work. I'd highly recommend them!
