PEAVY PROPERTIES

A previous complaint was posted on this venue on August 27, 2013, giving facts and figures to back up my claim.
Peavy Properties improperly withheld my (and, from others I have contacted, many others) security deposit, even though I provided all the documentation of final cleaning and inspection required by my written and signed lease agreement.
They have stalled for over a year and have consistently refused to repay the security deposit of $700.00 that they owe me. At one time they offered me half of that owed if I would just accept and cash their check. But the check was four hundred dollars short so I refused, demanding the full amount owed.
For over six years I paid the lease payment on time every single month. The property was returned in the shape it was originally leased, minus a few normal 'wear and tear' items. Photos were provided of both before leasing and after the property was vacated. Receipts for cleaning services were provided as requested. I was promised the check would arrive at my new domicile within a week. A year later, and after much visiting of their offices by me, the deposit has yet to be paid.
A chat room search showed many other renters have experienced the same treatment from Peavy Properties. From those statements, it seems clear their modus operandi is to stall and not repay the security deposits as a normal business practice.
A rumor was circulated on chat rooms from ex-Peavy staffers that peavy are on the verge of bankruptcy and could not repay the deposits back if they wanted to. They have routinely spent deposits which, by law, are required to be deposited in trust accounts and are not to be used by the owners. To date, none of the complaints have been satisfied, as far as I know.
Peavy staff has never contacted me to pursue the satisfaction of this claim.
