Strange. For some reason, at the first meeting they were not prepared to do any work, but charged $150 for the consultation. Then, the day of the scheduled work, they failed to show up entirely (even though the apprentice arrived and waited in his car all day).

Dishonest Electrician! We had our power go out at our rental property and needed an electrician to give an honest assessment of what was needed. As we were not at the property at the time of the outage, we had very little information as to what happened, just an account from our tenants. We called around and finally contracted Pat Murphy and Daniel Devoid was the electrician that came out. He then proceeded to tell me that the work would take over $5000 to complete and couldn't really produce much information as to what was wrong, only some babbling about the insulation around the wire being cracked. I paid the $54 service fee to be lied to! We called another electrician and he said no damage had even been done to the property. For whatever reason, the GA Power folks thought we had a faulty ground wire - turns out the Comcast installer used a green wire to rig up the Comcast install, and GA Power thought it was something else. An honest electrician would have pointed that out. A dishonest electrician, who gets paid on commission, will try and rake you over the coals. I am very disappointed that we made the mistake in calling Pat Murphy out to our property. Fortunately we only are out the service fee, don't make our mistake!
Response from Pat Murphy Electric Inc - Georgia
"[Member Name Removed], we're very sorry to hear that you had a regrettable experience. We always strive to leave our customers 100% satisfied so we spoke with our technician about this appointment. To clarify, our technicians are not paid on commission. They are paid hourly for the exact reason that you brought up. We never want to sell anything to our customers that they don't need. Our technician took pictures on site and upon review, our management team agrees with Daniel's recommendation. Our team would have all made the same decision in our own homes. We understand that another electrician could have made a different recommendation. Again, we are sorry that you had a bad experience. Your account will be credited the $54.95 service fee. Please call us if you have any further questions or concerns."

Price was in line with Angie's List high / low estimates. Estimate was included in final price along with senior citizen's discount (Angie's List). Felt like you were getting your money's worth.

20lb light fixture was to be swagged and cord was too short. The electirician did the best he could do in the circumstances, still it was almost $400 for an hour's work to hang a very simple fixture and install a light switch. The assistant didn't do much. I had to take it all down and re-do it over the weekend. Felt like we paid way too much. Waste of money and they should have told us that when they showed up - a professional would have. They offered to re-hang the fixture at no additional cost, but no apology or offer of refund. We were blamed, as the customer, for not measuring the wire length first. Silly us for trusting the manufacturer. Ugh. Enough venting. These guys were still way too expensive.

They did a great job. I was very pleased. The charge for troubleshooting the dryer I thought was a bit high, since it was just a loose wire and they fixed it in five minutes. However, they were nice enough to give us a discount when I asked.

Perfect! Gerald was awesome. He explained in detail what needed to be done, then gave me a price, and started working. I will definitely use Pat Murphy Electric again. They are professional all the way from the very first contact Thank you!

The answering service was friendly and the response was same day. The electrician was not as professional as I expected and was quite condescending as I questioned their prices. The electrician sees a female and thinks she doesn't know anything, however what he didn't realize is that I was an Aviation Electrician in the Navy and am now a Commercial Construction Project Manager. (I know a thing or two about electrical work.) My biggest complaint is the price this company charges to hang PVC conduit and 8' of 100A rated conductors, connect to the existing meter base and new weather head. $763 (discounted to $686.70 for Angie's list coupon) for one hour of work and very little material. If it were not August in Georgia and my tenant were not baking in his 500 sqft garage apartment, I would have waited and gotten service elsewhere. Don't use these guys. There are plenty of others who will provide the same service for MUCH less.

Lightening has shorted out some outlets. He discovered the whole house was not gounded. Since we rent, permission from the owner was given to ground the house and change out the outlet. Gerald Pannell was very professional and took the job seriously and worked diligently to solve our problems. Above all else he was very polite, which I believe is very important. Gerald is an asset to your company. Thank you Linda Kramer

Very efficiently broke one circuit into two. At that point they established that creating a third circuit was not required. Excellent work, responsiveness and communication through out the process.

Tom McWilliams and David Brian Moore rewired our circa 1918
Craftsman house. Mark Neal visited us initially, scoped out the job, explained
the procedure, stayed in touch throughout the process, answered many questions
and tied up loose ends on the final day. Suzanne Hawkins and Natasha in the
office were friendly and helpful on the phone and Catherine Cates worked with
us about our idiosyncratic payment preferences.
The back of our house presented difficulties. The crawl
space there is tight and the roof is low, but Tom and David tackled it with
resourcefulness and methods obviously developed through years of experience.
We?re glad we decided to go with Pat Murphy. As the
inspector who approved the work said, ?This company?s been around for a long
time??and clearly, there are reasons for that.
A total rewire to bring an old house up to code creates a
bit of an upheaval in one?s home and routine, but these guys?s friendliness,
helpfulness and knowledgeable answers to questions made it much easier.

David came out today and assessed the issues at my home. Was professional and very knowledgable.  We had used PME before at our old home and were pleased with the past work.
Price was a little more than I was expecting, but for electrical work, I wasn't looking for the cheapest price. I wanted someone who knew what they were doing, and wanted it done right the first time, as some of the work done today was to clean up what a previous electrician supposedly fixed before we moved into this house.
We will definitely use PME in the future for any other needs.  Thank you!
