Started out fine. I liked the price vs other cabinet refinishing options, however the following unresolved issues are why I am leaving such a bad score: 1) we wanted new drawers as well as cabinet doors. Terry doesn't do them but said he had a man that would take care of that and did a great job. He presented it to us as a "package", even providing a ballpark for the new drawers. Well, that man, who never called us back, finally admitted weeks later didn't want the job, leaving us stranded. Terry repeatedly said he would talk to him and change his mind but that never happened. Now our project is only half done. 2) We wanted cream cabinets to match the interior trim. Terry was very convinced the trim color was a specific Dove White, even quickly holding up a color chart before saying...yup that's it! Well, thankfully we decided to double check on our own because that white wasnt even CLOSE to our trim color. It was two full shades whiter. So bright it hurt the eyes. We caught the error before the internal painting was done, but he charged us $400 to repaint the drawers the proper color. 3) Most importantly, though, he improperly hung solid panel doors on what was and should have remained glass doors in our butler pantry! Who puts solid doors on a butler pantry?!? Unfortunately I was away on business and my husband didnt notice the butler pantry and paid him in full. BIG MISTAKE. That was the last time we heard from Mr Anderson...despite 6+ calls and emails asking him to get it fixed, and most recently threatening him with this review if he didnt at least call us back. Nope, nothing. Now we are stuck trying to figure out how to finish the project and how to get the cabinet doors fixed. Good price no longer seem so good. DO NOT USE HIM!

It was good everything went good.

They did an outstanding job. They used high quality lacquer which made the cabinets look like furniture grade. It improved the appearance dramatically. We would absolutely use them again.

The cabinets are beautiful! They look brand new and my kitchen was transformed into a more modern kitchen.

They are very punctual and have it well organized. The cabinet doors and drawer fronts were picked up and taken back to the shop. In two weeks the came in and covered all of the kitchen and living room including the floor. They then reattached the cabinet doors and installed the slides on the drawers. The kitchen and living room were then glazed. They returned the next day and sprayed lacquer on the cabinets. Two coats of lacquer were applied. A pretty matte finish was applied.

We are so pleased that we have contracted with them to return in March and work on the basement cabinets and the Master bathroom cabinets.

They are easy to be around and very courteous and careful.

This provider exceeded my expectations! My cabinets look new. They are absolutely beautiful. They are highly professional and extremely detailed oriented. They make sure everything where they work in your home is clean and protected. They stripped and stained my oak kitchen cabinets making them look like new. The reface companies will try and convince you this isn't possible. But it is with a highly professional company like Atlanta Kitchen Refinishers. If you have wood cabinets they can be restored and made to look like new so they can last another 20 years or beyond.

They show up on time and get to work on time. They stay on schedule and on budget. They respect your home by protecting it and your possessions so their work doesn't affect your surroundings. You can trust these guys mean what they say. They are highly responsive when you call and are available to answer questions onsite. I would highly recommend them and I plan to use them again when I renovate my master bathroom.

Everything went great from the visit to do the estimate to the installation of the cabinet doors. Terry came out to talk with us and provide an estimate. He took his time and answered every question we had; in fact, he ended up talking with us for well over an hour. There was no high pressure sales pitch - just a man talking about his business, his life, and his retirement plans.

We decided to go ahead and have the cabinets done and Terry took the doors with him to his shop to be stripped, stained, and sealed. Our kitchen cabinets - over 20 years old; were white, will yellowing stains from grease and smoke (despite my best efforts to keep them pristine); the thermofoil was peeling off some of the doors and there were a couple that had other issues. I had decided I wanted a deep mahogany cherry look - I wanted to get as far away from white as I could. Additionally, our kitchen is a part of an open plan (family room and kitchen nook all one big room). The tables / entertainment center in family room is a deep mahogany cherry color and Terry took one of the shelves to match the stain for the kitchen cabinets.

Base Cabinet Prep

Terry came back and and quot;prepped the base cabinetsand quot; - taping and sealing the bases. It took him less than 3 hours.



Installation

Todd (he ROCKS; very nice and courteous) and the Team (again, very nice) came the next day to paint the bases, install our stained doors and new handles. They were there almost all day. They took their time and sanded, painted, wiped, and sealed our cabinets. They installed the new handles; they corrected some and quot;leaning cabinetsand quot;, they cleaned up; they left. They were fantastic. Our new kitchen is very nice. We have stainless appliances, and decided, after seeing how nice the refinishing came out, to purchase new granite countertops.

My husband notice a few minor issues that he wanted corrected. I contacted Terry, he responded right away and sent Todd out within a week. Todd came back, (40 minutes early for appointment), addressed issues and was gone within an hour and a half.

Overall Impression

Fantastic service, passion for their work (Todd admired the kitchen when they finished as much as I did), and hard-working. These guys are not miracle workers; the cabinets are not new and they are not expensive and they don't look new and expensive. However, they are pretty, neat, and a great deal more that what I ever expected. I am so happy we found them on Angie's List. I have recommended them to two of my friends already and would recommend them to anyone else considering an economical approach to what can be a very expensive fix.

Regrets

Todd and the Team got caught in the awful Snowmegeddon leaving our home. They left at 4 p; they didn't get home until 6 a the next morning. I felt so bad when I learned of their plight; they worked so hard that day, only to spend the night in a van.

They came in and showed us some sample colors. They took drawers back to their warehouse to finsih them there but they taped off the walls and refinished the cabinets in my home. I installed the hardware, but they did all of the real work. They also did part of the wall and refinished it to match the cabinets. They were very neat about their work and did it in a timely fashion. We were very pleased with their work and have recommended them to others. The cabinets look like they are brand new.

Terry and his crew did an absolutely sensational job. Terry guided us through the entire process step by step. The workers were on time, neat and always considerate of our home. I can't say enough. The result was spectacular!

Had to wait a while as there were others ahead of me. The weight was well worth it.
The entire process was very professional. What a crew they have. The job took 1 1/2 days and I couldn't be happier. I would without any qualms recommend them to anyone. No one would ever guess that they just refaced rather than replace entire cabinets.

Terry and Todd were fantastic! The whole process from the date of my initial estimate to the completion date was only 7 days. We had white thermofoil cabinets which were starting to peel but we didn't want to spend the money on entirely new cabinets and had concerns about refacing them which was also an expensive process. After talking with Terry, I was reassured that refinishing was the way to go. Terry said they could remove the thermofoil from all the cabinets doors and drawers, that they do it all the time. He took all the cabinet doors and drawer fronts as well as our kitchen cart on a Thursday. Todd and his crew came back out the following Monday to do the cabinet base work and were finished by Tuesday afternoon. They took time to tape off and shield everything in the kitchen area so it wouldn't get paint on it and also moved furniture and window coverings out of the way so they would not get damaged. As part of the work, we had them fill in the old knob wholes on the drawers only and put handle pulls on them when they put everything back. These guys are very trustworthy. I had no problems leaving them in my home while I went out to run errands. In fact, I was not home at the time they finished the work. When I returned, I was pleasantly surprised to see how clean they had left everything. It is very uncommon for contractors to clean up after themselves thoroughly but these guys did. I have to admit that I'm generally a very picky person when it comes to having work done in my home but I could find no fault with the work Todd and crew did. They put all the knobs and handles back on the cabinets as well. They even left me a small sample jar of the paint in case we ever had to touch up anything. My cabinets look awesome now and feel awesome to the touch as well. This is quality work. This experience totally exceeded my expectations!

From Terry's first visit to give us an estimate, to the final details of cleaning up after the job, he and his workers did an exceptional job. Very professional, exactly on time as promised, and very reasonable in price.

We wanted to have the kitchen cabinets and wood surfaces refinished in a house we're preparing to move into. Terry met us at the house and looked over what we needed done and gave us an estimate. He then suggested taking the door off one of the kitchen cabinets to show us the finish he proposed. When he returned with the newly refinished floor, the difference was amazing - like going from a trailer to a mansion! Terry removed all the doors and drawers and took them with him.

When the doors and drawers were done, he and his workers returned and refinished the cabinet frames, the window frame, the door frame, the wainscoting, and the half-height paneling to make it all match. They were there when they said they would be, got the work done as promised, and cleaned up. The price turned out to be lower than the original estimate, too! We would highly recommend this company.

Look no further, Terry and Todd are the BEST! Terry removed a couple doors on my cabinets to do a sample at his shop. One sample was for the main part of the kitchen which Terry did in a buttery -yellow; for the island and bookcases in the adjoining faimily room he stained with an espresso color When Terry brought the finished samples back I was astounded with the results. I had been reading and researching for three years how to obtain the look I wanted without having to deal with the trash which exists out there. Once I (happily) approved the samples Terry proceeded with the removal of all doors and drawer-fronts to finish at his shop, then scheduled the work to be done on site. The kitchen and family room had to be "tented" with plastic and paper then the work began. Todd was here to oversee the project he and the crew couldn't have been more professional and respectful in our home. Not only did they do an outstanding job, but they kept any inconvienence to a minimum. My husband and I are overwhelmed with the results of our project and would highly recommend Terry and his company. In addition, Terry was able to advise and recommend a carpenter for some modifications which I needed to the existing cabinets,and for the new granite for my kitchen. All of his recommendations were A+ in every respect. I can't express enough how elated and satisfied I am with the work of Atlanta Kitchen Refinisheres. In the future I wouldn't use anyone else...they're definitely THE BEST!!!!

Terry came in a few days early and removed one door to take back to his shop to refinish with the dark cherry stain I chose--as a sample of what the cabinets would look like. When he came back with the sample, I loved it. He then removed all the doors and took them, and the drawers, back to the shop to refinish. A few days later Todd Churchill arrived with the crew and they began work. It took only a day and a half--the first day they covered the appliances and walls and began work; the second day they installed the refinished doors and completed the project. My cabinets are beautiful. Just what I wanted. I had to empty the kitchen cabinets of course, but they arranged for me to have access to my refrigerator after they left the first day, so that was good. They began at 7:30 and left the first day about 5:30; on the final day they finished about 1:30. I began returning items to the cabinets a couple of hours later. Everything was dry to the touch when they left. The cabinet pulls are on order and my only concern at this point is that Terry and Todd fulfilll their promise to return and install the cabinet pulls when the new pulls arrive. I'm planning to hire them to do some additional work in my kitchen (moving a set of cabinets to another location and building another small base unit--which Terry tells me they can do).

I dropped the doors and drawers off at their shop in Tucker and they were ready in a week. The cabinets are 42 years old and the doors/drawers looked like it. When I picked them up they were beautiful, just like new. They also do turnkey refinishing jobs, but I wanted to save money by refinishing my cabinet cases and replacing the hardware by myself. Their price was well worth the money for the enormous amount of time they saved me, and the finish is probably better than anything I could have achieved. I highly recommend this company.

Excellent! The crew arrived on time and ready to work. The first day they were finished around 4:00 PM and they returned the next day to complete the job. This was already discussed and agreed to since there is so much preparation to do. The second day went as well as the first and when they left, the kitchen and bathroom looked incredible! We originally wanted to just paint our existing cabinet doors and drawer fronts but Terry correctly advised us to update the look of our kitchen. His advice helped transform our kitchen into a beautiful, functional room! We have referred his company to a couple of our friends as well. He needs to be recognized and I trust that Angie's List will help!
