"Great communication; On time, in fact called and asked if they could come early. Inspected and cleaned both chimneys, one with an insert that required removing to get all the soot removed. The son father work team were extremely good folks and I will not hesitate to call them next time our chimneys need service. Thanks guys!!!!!"

"Hunter was very knowledgeable, courteous, and most of all professional. He worked with me to get my appointment scheduled although his schedule was booked. He continued to communicate with me about the possible issues/causes of my chimney problem so that he would be prepared with the right equipment and parts on arrival. He arrived when he said he would and completed the job to my satisfaction. He went above and beyond what I expected. I would definitely use him again for any chimney issues I have. I will also recommend him to my neighbors who may also have issues with their chimneys. I was impressed with his workmanship."

"They did a great job. They solved all the problems I had with the chimney and it’s been working perfectly ever since. They also fixed a problem on the roof around the chimney; they replaced the wood around the chimney with a material that would never rot, so they fixed it even better than it was before. It took them a couple of days to do the work. They took care of all the cleanup as well. We've been real happy with them."

Chimney Sweep questions, answered by experts

Hard materials like glass, metal, and hardwood floors, washable fabrics, and undamaged electrical appliances can often be salvaged after a fire, although it depends on the extent of the damage. For washable fabrics, make sure to use a phosphate mix during the washing process to extract the smoke smell. There are a few things you should throw away after a fire, like canned foods and cosmetics, even if they don’t look like they’re damaged.

Depending on the amount of soot present, you can vacuum some of it using a brush attachment on your vacuum cleaner. Then, remove the leftovers with a mild cleaner, such as dish soap or vinegar mixed with water. Before applying a cleaning solution, saturate the bricks with clean water to prevent the cleaner from penetrating beyond the surface and causing structural damage to the bricks.

The first thing you should do when cleaning smoke damage is open all your windows to ventilate the affected area and run an air purifier with a HEPA filter. Cover your furniture and belongings to prevent soot accumulation, and vacuum any soot that’s on the floor and other surfaces. Be sure to wear a mask, gloves, and eye protection when cleaning the affected area.

To get rid of the smoke smell in a microwave, scrape off any burnt food residue and throw it away. Next, warm a cup of water in a microwave-safe container for three minutes. Then, dip a microfiber cloth into a mixture of water and a couple of drops of dish soap and wipe down the inside of the microwave. Dry the inside of the microwave with a fresh cloth and let everything air out for three hours.

Regular HVAC filter changes, deep cleaning, and air quality monitoring help maintain a healthy environment.
