SMITH'S AUTO SVC

Our truck suffered a coolant system failure and was towed in for what Chuck Smith quoted as an easy $800.00 job. He told us that the engine was alright,"there is nothing wrong with the engine.". I paid down $350.00 but by then the total bill turned into 1008.65.By the time we were contacted to pick truck up the balance had escalated to 1331.31.!!!???!! We paid balance and finally got our truck back  The truck drove eight miles before the oil pressure dropped to zero at which time I shut the engine down and called Smith who said bring the truck back the oil galleries needed cleaning Smith sent his tow truck  ($65.00  my cost) to carry the truck back. Smith stated he would  clean the galleries and dropped out of sight ,allegedly on a trip to France.  When we were finally contacted and told the truck was ready we  went and drove it back to the house.Soon as we arrived home the oil pressure again dropped to zero.  I called Smith who said he would get the truck towed back do not drive, however instead sent his son and a woman to drive the truck back to his shop. Then Smith again dropped from sight refused to answer his phone or messages and was never in his shop, the truck was just gone. Finally we were able to contact Smith by using a phone other than our own.Smith then said the truck needed a new oil pump.Which according to the specification manuals "after a head gasket job"  should already been done before .Apparently, Smith does not follow procedure. Another $150.00 bill paid at his shop by me. I was given the run around and my calls ignored till we began to lose faith and trust in Smith. A wrecker was sent to pick up the truck as Smith told me the truck was now unrepairable and inoperable and he could not fix it. Smith's son was at the shop when the wrecker came and lied saying he did not know anything about the truck . Our  truck was brought home, unrepairable and inoperable.In far worse condition that it was before going into shop.
I called the Chamber of Commerce to ask what steps could be taken to redress the situation and maybe recover the lost money spent for nothing I was told by the Lady that runs the Chamber of Commerce to "Pray to Jesus" which I did but with no results either. We contacted the better business bureau and were told he did not answer their calls or letters. Chuck Smith's garage is located one building over from the city Police department who I called and asked what to do and was told Chuck Smith was in France.
Chuck Smith actually did more damage to the truck than was originally wrong with it destroying the engine.
We took out a loan on my husbands veterans life insurance to pay for the repair and Chuck Smith was told this but apparently it made no difference that we had to nor the fact we are both disabled. We now have one vehicle which we had to buy with money we had planned on paying our land tax with, horses that need feed and hay and Doctor visits for our family.
Chuck Smith and his son lied to us repeatedly evaded our questions evaded contact with us took our money badly needed for other things and did NOT repair our truck leaving us for two months without a vehicle at all.
We trusted Smith and had faith in him but no more.
I will never use Smith's auto service again nor recommend his work to anyone.
