I thought they were very detailed and quality oriented. I really liked their approach and his presence. There were about 4 crew members and it took a day to complete everything. They cleaned up well after themselves and the results are excellent.

The roof was several years old when we bought our home 16 years ago, and a couple of leaks had been repaired along the way, so when we looked for estimates for two new leaks, we were hoping to get away with repairs but were prepared to replace the entire roof. We got other estimates, but Ben Cranor was enthusiastically recommended by a neighbor. He impressed us with the care he took inspecting the roof, his obvious extensive knowledge of the entire construction industry as well as roofing, and the number of alternatives he presented us with, including pros and cons for each. We settled for an intermediate grade architectural asphalt shingle roof, above basic construction grade but about half the price of and quot;ultimate luxuryand quot; grade

The work was scheduled for a week later, and Ben estimated two days for the roof plus another for finishing siding repairs and painting. The Monday they began, the forecast was for heavy rain the following day, so he modified the plan and only removed the old shingles and installed the new roof on the back side of the house. The crew stayed late to be sure everything was done and waterproof for the heavy rains that did come on Tuesday. Wednesday was clear, and the crew was back early to finish the job. It took most of Thursday to finish the last of the finishing touches, and they actually were back Friday to finish cleaning up. Once the truck hauled the dumpster away, aside from the lovely new roof and beautifully repaired dormers, there was no sign that they had ever been there. Ben, who had been there part of every day, returned as the crew finished up, inspected the work, and made sure we were satisfied with everything. The bill was exactly as estimated upfront, and lower than other estimates we had gotten.
A new roof is a big expense. Cranor roofing got ours done with high-quality materials, provided punctual service, and impressed us with their integrity and devotion to quality.

They failed to seal the nails when they replaced the ridge vent, and I've had to hire another roofing company to come in and seal the nails behind them.

Hardy Plank Siding not installed according to manufacturers installation instructions. Flashing improperly installed or not at all, and the flashing issues are building code violations. They split and damaged siding and corner moulding. Not only did they not paint two coats of paint, there are areas that don't even have one coat of paint. I have had the job inspected by a licensed home inspector who found several things wrong that I had not even noticed. They also also left two pick-up truck loads of debris in my driveway.
Response from CRANOR ROOFING
"She inspected the siding, signed off & paid for it. She hired a contractor to install windows/doors. We had to wait for the installers to finish so we could paint the new windows. When we came back she wanted all the windows taken off their track, painted, & reinstalled. The head painter told her that this could cause damage to the windows. Later she admitted to secretly having the painters remove some windows. This caused some damage. To clear up the matter I insisted she refrain from talking to the painters anymore & she was not pleased with my request & decided that she did not want us to finish the job. I asked for 1 last meeting to agree on terms of completion. We met & made notes of all she wanted done. We fixed siding that the window/door installers damaged, we hung a loose downspout, we filled in a foundation crack that was not related to our job, & we installed a new motion sensor light at our expense. I called her to pick up the left over siding, seal some flashing, & pick up a $328 check which she had agreed to pay out of a $850 balance. One can only imagine my shock she informed me she would be reporting me to a consumer group. She hung up the phone after telling me to never call her again or come on her property."
