With repeated requests, the contractor never did finish (and barely started) the punch list. I have hundreds of nail pops that he would not deal with. The floor in the master bath was not properly supported and the tiles are loose and the grout is gone between the tiles. The trim pieces are missing in places. He never finished installing the fireplace insert. Cabinet drawers were not installed correctly and stick out crookedly. A piece of siding is missing and the painters just painted the insulation instead of fixing it. The list goes on and on...
I eventually filed a BBB complaint, but nothing was ever resolved. At this point I have hired other contractors to fix most of the issues.
I would not recommend him for this large of a project, and I would be adamant about holding back part of the funds until every last thing on the punch list.
(I just joined Angie's list or I would have reviewed earlier. The nail pops in particular still irk me every time I see them and thought I would save someone else the headache).
