The job started off wonderfully and overall mostly turned out nice. However it took waaaaay longer than promised. We were told it would take 8 weeks or less but it ended up taking 17 weeks and when we tried to reach the contractor he became unresponsive for weeks at a time. When he finally surfaced he promised to complete the job by finishing the additional closet they started but never did. Again non-responsive. We've had to go ahead and hire someone else to complete the job.

The project is ongoing and is expected to be complete later this summer. The owner of the company is very knowledgeable and competent in home construction. He and all of the subcontractors have been great to deal with on a daily basis. I would recommend Sheffield Construction to anyone who wants quality work done for a good price.

It went very well and the end product is truly outstanding in execution and workmanship. It was not fast, and took longer than any of us expected, in part because the job extended over a tough winter and holidays. Bill Schwed is extremely experienced and committed to a good job, following code, meeting and even exceeding our expectations. He also helped with the design based on our rough plans, offering suggestions which were based on years in the business.
All contractors, of course, juggle more than one job, and there were times we felt the progress drug on and on. But generally all went very well, and Bill Schwed's(owner) ways to tie in the old and new structures were detailed and exacting and went very well. Our house is a much better house than when we began, mostly because he was willing to help us correct some flaws our house had. Bill is also committed to the job looking good,(as well as being a solid structure), and pays attention to details to accomplish that.
One thing everyone should consider when chosing a contractor is the quality of his subs, critical to the success of the job. Bill's subs were truly talented, dedicated to doing outstanding work. Also, consider details because they really matter: will retouch of paint happen? will trash be removed? will all the trim be level? will drainage issues be solved? will the entire team respect your property? Sheffield scored high in all the details. (If, however, you need an architect for your design, you would need to look elsewhere for that aspect of the job, I think. )
Another consideration: unexpected discoveries arise in any renovation (I have renovated several buildings), and it is important to have an experienced crew that can problem-solve, then fix things at a fair price, not taking advantage of you. Sheffield Construction won our respect in this area especially.
When we changed our minds on some design things we wanted, we had to go back to the drawing board with Bill Schwed and he worked with us. The ability to make changes was very, very important to our final happiness with the completed project. Changes are never convenient and slow a job down and increase costs, but it is important that a contractor be willing to change direction when you have made a and quot;mistakeand quot;/misjudged what you thought you wanted. The Sheffield Construction crew accomodated our changes very successfully. In general, I would highly recommend this company.

They came in on time, took out the old cabinets, re-did the plumbing so the kitchen would have a better look and flow. They added some outlets so we could have a better functioning kitchen and even added a breakfast bar on the back side of our sink! It fit so perfectly with the door to the back deck! I am completely satisfied with the color and quality of the cabinets that we received. The overall design of the kitchen was left up to Sheffield Construction and they did a MARVELOUS job!!!!! In fact they are coming back to finish our basement and hopefully our master bath is next!!!
Thanks Sheffield Construction!!!!

Sheffield Construction went above and beyond to ensure I was completely satisfied with the work. They ran into electrical issues in this older home due to earlier remodeling from the previous homeowner and resolved the wiring issues. Mr. Schwed and Wesley are friendly, very knowledgeable guys, who are extremely informative throughout the project. They explained what they were going to do and answered all my questions every step of the way. They cleaned up after themselves at the end of each day. What impressed me the most with Sheffield Construction was Mr. Schwed's skill set and suggestions to save me money with the project and still get the same end results I wanted. I highly recommend this company and will be using them in the future!

Although this was a rather small job i could see it was not easy. The job started and finished on time.
I had noticed some cracks in our front basement foundation wall. I called Sheffield Construction Co to check it out. Bill came back with a method of marking the cracks so we could see if there was pressure coming from the outside of the wall. He also checked the foundation drain to make sure it was clear. Since the cracks were rather high on the wall he asked about outside events. We did have a rather large tree cut down in the front yard and when some of the chunks hit the ground the whole house shook. From that he surmised that the hits to the ground may have cracked the foundation. His team cut some holes in the foundation wall, forced re-bar in and filled with cement. They painted over the wall and it looks as good as new.

The whole team was quick and professional. They cleaned up too! The project took about 10 days. and I would trust them to work on my house and with my dogs in a minute.

Working with Billy is a good experience in that he is very personable, honest, and wants to please the customer. We can be quite picky and Billy has been patient and never condescending. We plan to use him to install tile floors in our kitchen, breakfast room, and laundry. Tile work is one of his specialties.
We would definitely recommend Billy's work.
Our only real frustration with Billy is his, at times, unrealistic timeline for when he'll be on site for work. It's not unusual for him to say he'll be able to come on a particular day to start/do a job and end up coming one or more days later. However, he is good to call us a bit ahead before he is actually coming and, thus, we can go about our day until he gives us the and quot;30 minute calland quot; that he is on his way.

The job started in late September 2009. We moved back into our house in early April 2010.
With ongoing rains in September and a frigid winter the foundation repairs were completed by mid-November.
The interior re-build/repairs and additions were completed by April 2010. The siding on the back of the house was so twisted it also had to be replaced.
Exterior painting was completed by another company.

The re-built foundation wall was reinforced with cement and re-bar. This is the smoothest straightest and most uniform cement block wall i have ever seen. Bill also did the tile work in our renovated master bath and it is absolutely fabulous.

As with any project I would get a written work plan and have regular progress reviews.
