We wanted to get 2 new Velux skylights to be installed in our new home that had a new roof just 5 weeks old. Obviously I was nervous a bit. It's a large home with 20+ feet tall, greater than 45 deg pitch ceilings. After reading reviews, I contacted the Sunshine Boys. Jesse who answers front desk calls was so polite/professional and wonderful. She scheduled free consultation for Dave to come and discuss options/take measurements within a few days. I told her we were in a bit of a time crunch, so she even penciled in an install date just a week from consultation date, in case we went ahead with it. That was just the best thing we did because I found out we were very lucky to get a date so soon as they're booked 3 weeks out these days. Dave came and took measurements, discussed some options etc. on a late Friday afternoon and we got a $ estimate on Sunday already. I got a follow up call from Jesse on Monday morning. Then I asked to speak to the owner Jason Sr. and she gave me his cell phone. From then on, I dealt directly with Jason Sr, the current owner, who took the time to answer my questions/concerns/options so patiently! He always picked up my calls and responded to my text msgs. He knows his business for sure! You can tell in a minute that he cares about his company/customers and offers old fashioned customer service/warranties etc. Note that unlike other companies that mark up the Velux skylights before selling to you, Sunshine Boys give you the skylights at cost! So what they pay Velux is what you get it for! Their various warranties on roof/shingles around the skylights, the skylights themselves and the room darkening solar powered blinds etc is beyond what others were offering. But hopefully we won't need to worry about the warranties. The total cost of the skylights was also reasonable and it was Jason who educated me on the tax credit for almost 2K! He sent me links for that as well. Sunshine boys work with Enerbank if you need financing and Jason provided contact info for them too. Lastly, I was blown away by how quickly they got the work done. They arrived at 11 am, put painters tape to show me the placement of the skylights etc and they got to work! They were out by 5 pm (even with small breaks in between as it was a very hot day and we didn't have power to turn on the AC). The install crew put very thick construction grade brown paper on hour hardwood floors and they picked up/cleaned up insulation etc when they were done. A nice clean job!! Even before the installers left, another wonderful gentleman Edwin arrived to do all the sheet rock work around the skylights. This is indeed a specialty and Edwin is a perfectionist and a very dedicated senior worker. He worked till 10:30 pm on his tall ladders and if we were not so tired, he would keep going. He asked when he can come the following morning and he showed up right on time and worked the whole day again till 10:30 pm to finish various coats of compound, sheet rock install, paint etc. There's drying time in between depending on what's being applied. We got to know Ed well and we felt like we knew him for years. What a gentle soul and a joy to work with!! So in less than 48 hours, we had 2 new skylights all installed and they look beautiful! They look like they have always been there. I will recommend this company to anyone in a heartbeat! I made the best decision to not only have Velux skylights installed, but to choose Sunshine boys as installers. Along with Jason Sr, Jason Jr. and some other family members are all vested in this company and it's hard to get this kind of service and professionalism these days!

Fabulous job! LOVE my new skylight! Everyone with whom I had contact, i.e., office personnel, estimator, installers were pleasant, informative and detail oriented. During installation, the gentlemen came across some unexpected wiring which they handled with no problem. They showed up on time, cleaned up after the job was completed and addressed any questions/concerns I had along the way. Would definitely recommend them!

This is the second time I have used this business to do significant modifications to my home, specifically the installation of sun tunnels.  My house was built with all windows facing either north or south.  Consequently, it gets almost no natural lighting regardless of time of day.
The installation of two sun tunnels in my living room last summer was a smashing success.  Accordingly, I hired the sunshine boys to do the work listed in this review.  I have also retained them to do three more sun tunnels in the near future (master bedroom and both bathrooms).
These folks are professional in all respects of the word.  They are easy to contact.  Further, they seem to realize that the customer's time is just as valuable as theirs, so they are very, very flexible when scheduling work.  On the day service is to performed, the technicians call to let the customer know that they are on the way, then keep the customer advised of any delays in their anticipated arrival time.
The work they do is first class.  Installations are quick, clean and very effective.  Further, their prices are most reasonable.  The technicians are personable, cordial and pleasant in all manners, ensuring that their work does not in any way interfere with or inconvenience the customer.
This is customer service the way I remember it decades ago.  The Sunshine Boys are happy to have your work and they seem to realize that they need us more than we need them.  I just wish that every independent contractor I worked with was this proficient.  I would not hesitate to recommend The Sunshine Boys to friends, family, neighbors and co-workers.  And, yes, I would recommend them to my worst enemies (not that I have any).  Perhaps after recommending The Sunshine Boys to my worst enemy, we wouldn't be enemies any longer!

The personality of my installer definitely fit the company name of The Sunshine Boys.  He was nice, professional, and knowledgeable.  He checked my attic for the best place to perform the installation, noted that the attic was healthy and no signs of mold/mildew.  He made the installation in less than an hour making sure the solar panel had the best exposure to the sun.  He provided me all of the information that I will need should I have any issue, but I don't think that I will have any issues based on the quality of his work.

This was a very good experience. Someone came to my house the week before to make sure the Angie's List deal would work for the space I had in mind. He also explained the entire process. On the day of installation, the installer showed up on time and did a great job. It only took a couple of hours for the complete installation. We have had several storms and I don't see any evidence of leaks. After about a month, I noticed some dead bugs in the skylight. I called and someone came out within a couple of business days. They completely re-taped the skylight tube just to make sure that nothing else could get in.

The company called the  day before to confirm time and date of installation. On the day of installation we received a call indicating that the technicians may be a little late due to traffic (very helpful communication). Upon arrival, exactly on time, the technicians then began assessing where the tube(s) could be placed and discussing the various placement options and challenges. The final recommendation, turned out to be exactly as Jerson had described when he came to give us a quote.

Once we decided on the exact location, the guys moved furniture that was in the way, laid plastic over everything and went to work. They advised that we would probably be  happy with one light tube and two might be too much, but that after one was installed we could reassess. After the one was installed, we were thrilled. Their recommendation was spot on! They then cleaned up, moved the furniture back and after completing the payment, they were off. Could not have been a better experience!

Dan Russell the President of the company first came out to look at the project and give us an estimate and options to choose from. He gave us a comprehensive history of the Velux product and the various styles. Once we chose what we wanted and set up an install date the work was performed. On the day of the install, not only did one of the installers call to let me know what time he'd be arriving, Dan also called to let me know. The two installers who came were polite and I especially liked the fact they immediately put booties on their shoes before walking into the house.

They were careful to lay a cloth to cover everything to catch any debris and the work was performed quickly. Dan showed up during installation to check that everything was going well. After the job was done everything was cleaned up and put back exactly as it was. Everyone we dealt with from beginning to end was nice and professional and we are very happy with the product.

The estimator was on time and gave a thorough explanation of what I needed based on what I told him, which included 2 options which he sent to me the same day in e-mail form with complete cost estimates.  1 month later After hiring I was given a date for installation in 8 days.  
Installers were on time and at all times professional. First thing they did was to insure cleanliness inside by spreading drop clothes under the open areas. (other companies said they were not responsible for inside) this is a standard for The Sunshine Boys.
The job ended up needing some expertise that the skylight installers did'nt have  so another person was called in at the last minute and actually cancelled another appointment to insure that my job was finished.

They worked on a steep pitched roof and the larger skylight was very cumbersome to work with.  They were very careful and thorough in the process of removal of the old skylights.  Tarps were placed over the furniture and carpets in both rooms to catch debris which fell inside.  Any debris which fell outside was cleaned up and hauled away at the end of the day along with boxes and packing materials.   They were very thorough in clean-up.  They were meticulous in the installation of all three new skylights and shades.  Throughout their long day, they were always courteous, professional and cheerful.

I am very pleased with their work as well as their price....they were not the cheapest, but since they are the only 5 star certified skylight company in the area the Velux skylight manufacturer recommends, I felt comfortable knowing that they would do the work right.  As Dan told me with a smile upon leaving my home, "Do you want it done cheap, or do you want it done right?", I felt since all they do is install skylights and after checking with the BBB I saw they've never had a complaint, I do believe they do it right!!!!

The sales guy came and looked to see what we wanted and took pictures and talked about their access on how they would get up in the attic and on the roof to do the installation. He was very knowledgeable, he was right on time when he said he's going to be here, he was very polite and knew what he was talking about, and he gave me a good estimate, and then when the installation guy came, he was very, very neat. He put a tarp down to catch any particle falling down, and he worked quickly. We have a ten-year leak warranty and it's not leaking at all even with all these rains.

When we had an issue with one of our skylights in the living room, we called them because they are certified Velux  installers.  They did a great job!  They are very professional, knowledgable.friendly, neat in their work and kept us informed of when the skylights were coming in.

I would highly recommend them.

The Sunshine Boys rep, Mike, contacted me and met me at my house for an evaluation for the best place to install the Velux sun tube. The Sunshine Boys are the employed installers for this company. I had Velux sun tubes installed previously in Florida, and they are great for infusing dark rooms with daylight. The room was measured as well as the roof access and placement for the sun tube. Mike provided an estimate on the spot and we agreed on an installation date. The installer, Chad, arrived on time and within 2 hours, the sun tube was providing daylight. Chad was a professional, he did a good job and cleaned up after himself. He also protected my furniture and flooring. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Sunshine Boys for the Velux sun tube installation. Great company and good pricing.

I think that they have a great product and they offer an excellent price for it. The people who did the job were very nice, friendly, and they acted professional the whole time. They were very clean, and I felt that they were extremely helpful.

I researched the sky tube online and found a local dealer. I made an appointment for somebody to come out and demonstrate the tube. I liked it and was ready to make an installation appointment. He was willing to put it in right then, and within 3 hours I had light in my kitchen. I was so pleased that I have them scheduled to come back and install another sky tube.

My living/dining room was dark for most of the day after the morning sun disappeared. This tubular light that can be installed by one person in less than an hour brings wonderful light into my room for the entire day!! There is just a glass panel on the ceiling that is about 12" in diameter and a small cylinder on the roof.
