I told them he no longer had BC/BS that he only had Medicare and a Supplement Insurance.  I handed them the cards in which they made copies of them.  A few weeks later my nightmare began.  I started receiving bills from everyone associated with the hospital demanding payment.  The hospital never removed BC/BS from my husband's account and everyone was submitting claims to them.  We were not suppose to pay anything.  I had to spend hours getting the mess straightened out.  When I talked to them they acted like it was no big deal.  It is a big deal if your husband is dying and you have to do everything for him.  I told them I was going to bill them for all of my time spent getting their mistake fixed if I received another bill from his visit to the hospital and it would not be cheap.  Just be careful if you have a change in insurance since they do not change it and will submit to the other company first.

They rushed him into a trauma unit because he was choking on the blood hanging out of his mouth.  They nurses went right to work on him and had to pull a fist size blot clot out of his throat.  He could not breathe.  The doctor came in treated the symptoms, sent him home, knowing he had cancer with orders not to come back if the bleeding started again until we had tried her idea twice totaling 30 minutes.  His blood count had dropped from a 12 to a 10.  He had another nose bleed during the night and we had already decided that he would never go back to that hospital.

I took my daughter to the ER with chest pains at 5:00 Took her vitals, X rays and sent her back to the waiting room. still in  waiting room at 9:30 . Ask several times when she was to be seen. All that was said waiting on a room. Finally had enough, and left. I thought since it  was now Piedmont Henry things might have changed, but  things appear to be worse.last trip there, ever!!

During the surgery I was infected with mersa. The infection was fast and vicious. I was hospitalized off and on for weeks and had three operations for treatment. Care from my nurses was appropriate but the hospital itself was the problem. They were actually noted as the highest rated hospital for staph and mersa infections. I lost my leg as proof. I will note however, that the wound clinic at this hospital is excellent. The service is excellent and I have no complaints with them at all. The following grades are reflective of the hospital experience only, the infection and the loss of my leg.
