A couple days after the service I tested the toilet into which Josh had installed a Fluidmaster 400 valve kit. The water level was too low to provide effective flushing and my adjustments had no effect. I knew that Josh wouldn't be at work for a about a week so waited a few days before calling him directly on his own phone. He coordinated with his supervisor and me before returning to the house to make an adjustment. We tested and found that the toilet then provided an optimal water flow into the bowl.
Because I rely on Delta Plumbing for most of my plumbing/septic tank maintenance/repairs I can't comment on whether or not the price for the parts and service were reasonable. I am happy with the quality of the work and the cooperation of Josh and his supervisor in insuring that work was completed satisfactorily.
? The technicians attentively listened to my description of the problem. Then they checked the water level through a port at a point just before the pipes lead to the drain field to determine whether or not running the maximum possible water through the drains inside the house would affect this level. When they saw that the level was not changed by all the extra water they dug down to the septic tank itself and opened one end. At this point they discovered that a large amount of solidified grease was partially blocking the inlet pipe. This pipe was flushed and an enzyme solution was poured into the system.
? I asked about pumping the tank and was told that it would be a waste of money at this time because the tank's environment was healthy; that the only problem was the grease. They explained steps I could take to minimize grease entering the system through the drains.
? They left a 4-month supply of enzyme solution. My understanding is that the purpose of the solution wasn't to improve the septic tank's operation but to help clean up potential problems with the p-traps in the drains.
We are thrilled to have working plumbing again and that someone took the time to actually fix the issue rather than just try to rip our pipes out and charge us $10,000.
Thanks Darren and Mark!!!
Although, as far as I can tell, the plumbing work Delta has performed at my house is adequate (the plumbing works) I am very unhappy with the service and the cost. My first encounter was when the septic system backed up. While I was at work a service man stopped by and called to tell me the septic tank needed to be drained. Since it was an older system they needed to dig to the tank and put on a lid for easy access. Since I needed this taken care of ASAP and I am not a plumber or septic expert I agreed to what I though was a high price (@ $1800) to have the work done. I felt I was over charged but the timing, as with all things, was off and between the holidays and work there was not enough time to price multiple places (my fault I guess)
A year and a half later the plumbing is backing up into the house again and due to slow responses from a couple of other places my husband called Delta again because the issue needed to be resolved. He was told they would come out for free since we had the septic serviced before. Once they arrived to look at the issue with a camera we were told the pipe from the tank to the house was drooping and needed to be repaired and for about $2500 they would bring in a trencher and repair the 10 foot line.
We were finally able to reach other plumbers who all said they would do the repair for half the cost. When we contacted Josh, manager, at Delta we were told ?running a business is expensive.? He was very rude and repeatedly indicated we just did not understand how expensive it was to run a business (hmm my husband is self-employed) Well I guess to be the ?educated plumber? means you have to over charge those that are not experts .
I do not recommend Delta - rude people, over charge and treated us as if we were the dumb customer.
"We take our customer reviews and satisfaction very seriously which is one of the reasons we have been in business for 40 years. We apologize that you feel like our prices are too high. We feel as though we offer competitive prices with companies the same size as ours and in the same industry. We are licensed, insured and bonded. We do background checks and drug tests on all of our employees. We have multiple vehicles that we keep stocked with equipment for the jobs; all of this is taken into account in regards to our prices. In your review you mentioned that you were not able to get other plumbing companies out as quick as us on two different occasions, you also stated that we fixed the problem and your plumbing was working. We offer flat rate pricing and give all of our fees to our customers up front. The customer always has the option to say no if they feel like our prices are too high. You agreed to the work and prices before the work was completed and signed the invoice on two different occasions. We may not be the cheapest plumbing company in town due to all of the reasons stated above, but we are reliable, timely and we get the job done just as you stated, “due to slow responses from other plumbing companies we called Delta again because the issue needed to be resolved.” We try really hard to please our customers and we do offer refunds and have given refunds if a customer has had a problem with our services or if we were not able to fix the problem correctly, but we cannot offer refunds to everyone that thinks we charge too much especially when we were prompt, professional and complete the work. Josh is our Vice President and is a wonderful manager. We don’t get many complaints about him; he is honest, very nice and tries very hard as well to make our customers happy. We apologize that you do not agree with our pricing and that you feel as though your conversation with Josh was rude. We do try our best, but we understand that we will not always be able to make everyone happy. We wish you the best of luck and we would be happy to come back out if you need service again, we of course honor all warranties. Sincerely, Delta Plumbing"
"Dear Customer, Thank you for the review, during the freeze we had every possible technician out to repair broken pipes. As you know we were in a state of emergency due to the freeze. We had to bring in more technicians and work overtime. We had approximately 5,000 calls coming in a day and we tried to get out and service and help as many people as possible as quickly as possible. When you work on frozen pipes there is always a chance that when the pipe thaws you can have more leaks and problems that were not detectable while frozen. We tried to make sure all of our customers were aware of this upfront. Had you called us 2 weeks later when you had more problems we would have gone out there for free and assessed the problem. Our company is fully licenses, insured and bonded. We do background checks and drug tests on all of our employees. We keep our vans fully stocked and we are timely, reliable and first responders to emergency plumbing. All of this has to be taken into account when we set our fee's verses a local plumber working for himself. Not to mention during the freeze we had to bring in more techs to work and hire an outside staffing company to help with the phone calls. So we apologize that you feel our prices were to high and hope now you understand a little better why our prices may be higher than others. I am sorry we were not able to come back out the second time and try to rectify the problem, but we do very much care about our customers and hope that one day we can work for you again. Please feel free to call our office anytime. Sincerely, Delta Plumbing"
Received a call around 3:30 PM stating the job he's currently on is taking longer then expected but he would show up once completed. At a little past 6 PM he arrived and quickly wrote up the quote which I agreed to. It took close to an hour to complete the work but I was very impressed how he doubled check everything for leaks.
I will use them again.
Update: This did not fix the leak and had a large leak on the same line moments after they left. I called them back and they charged me an additional $300 for the fix on the same pipe. I was not happy with the extra charge. The rules of supply and demand clearly applied here. I was not pleased that I had to pay again for something they did not check and if it had been fixed the first time properly I would have had much less damage and lower recovery costs. I will not be using them again, it is wrong to take advantage of people in emergency situations.
Called Delta to get estimate on replacing interior polybutylene piping in a vacant property I'm getting ready to sell. Arrived at the home for the appointment and found water in the garage that had leaked from the service line. I had Delta write up separate estimates for the service line and the re pipe. Estimates were $2900 for the service line and $4600 for the re-pipe and new water heater. I had the service line done first and was told it would take 2-4 hours. I planned for 4 hours but it took Delta 5.5 hours. It was a very hot day in excess of 90 and a good bit of trenching was needed. As far as I can tell, the work was good. I learned afterward that the $2900 may have been a bit excessive for the job. My fault though because I didn't seek a 2nd opinion. Also, was hit with a $12 fuel surcharge on the final invoice. I did get a 2nd opinion on the re-pipe and Delta's quote was in line so I had them do that job as well. I had an appointment with the plumber to provide a key and let him get started. He was several hours late because he had a fire in his truck. As far as I can tell, that work was good too. I did have difficulty getting a final invoice from Delta on the re-plumb. I called the office and spoke with Jack who said he would get the invoice to me by email that day or the next. A week or so later, I called the plumber who said that he would get with Jack. I spoke with Jack again about a week later and, again, he said I would have by the end of the day. A week or so later, I called the office again and spoke with Lisa. I received the invoice a few minutes later. Overall, it appears that Delta did good work but I may have been overcharged on the service line. Again, I neglected to get a 2nd opinion so that's on me.
UPDATE: I discovered that the cold water line was attached to the hot spigot and vice versa under the kitchen sink. Also found that the dishwasher line no longer reached the water supply line and, as such, was not reconnected. I resolved the problems in another manner and did not contact Delta about these issues.
Codi arrived within the hour. He was thorough, knowledgeable, friendly, upfront with the price, etc. Sometimes you don't know what really needs to be done, but everything that he told me before turned out to be true later (like how rusty my pipes really were inside!)
Delta gave me a flat rate quote over the phone. When Codi arrived, he told me ahead of time what other things needed to be done for my old, bootleg water heater. The price seemed reasonable.
After everything was put together, he checked for leaks and stayed longer to take apart an old pipe that had a small drip- he did not leave till it was fixed.
My husband and I were both very pleased with his work and will use Delta again for our plumbing needs!
. The plumbers repaired the water pipe (apparently chewed open recently by a rodent) by first digging out a bit of the concrete wall. I didn't expect that they would be willing or able to perform masonry work. The senior plumber of the two-man team then explained to me how I should repair the masonry and what type of cement should be purchased for the job.
. The replacement of the water heater seems to have been completely perfectly.
Note: I'm surprised by the negative ratings (some current) by other members. Perhaps the company employs a variety of excellent as well as poor plumbers. I seem to have had the services of two excellent ones.
