Ultimately, I went with the only contractor who provided me with a quote after We Can Do It! left me hanging. I had no choice since the work had to be done. Based on their recommendation that only my gutters needed redoing (and they never even provided a price for that!), and on the subsequent discovery that most of my house structure was rotten, insect damaged, or not up to code, I would never recommend We Can Do it! for anything. My home is being fixed up now, costs are well over $120K, but the contractor I used instead is honest and forthright about what has to be done. When the work is finished, I will leave an appropriate review for him. Avoid We Can Do It! at ALL costs. My feeling is that if they were this unresponsive about the quote, any work that they subsequently got would not be up to par.
Description of Work: My home needed residing with Hardiplank. All windows and doors had to be replaced with more energy efficient ones. Ditto gutters, etc. All evidence of prior poor construction or insect damage, etc. had to be corrected. House had to be brought up to code. I had one quote and was reluctant to proceed with just that contractor's price. On a recommendation, I asked Allison Thorpe of We Can Do It to scope the job and provide me with another quote. She came out several times, brought other people from her company to measure, etc. and promised me a quote within 24 hours. When that didn't happen, I called her. She sent other people out to measure and waste my time, and then simply never delivered a quote. Later, when I called and asked why, she said my home really didn't need any work done besides the gutters. This was absurd. I told her I wanted the old rotten Homosote taken off and Hardiplank installed instead. Railings and woodwork, columns, etc, were rotted and needed replacing. Allison and WCDI simply promised a quote, wasted my time, and never delivered anything except excuses and unfulfilled promises. I would NEVER recommend these people (whose appearance was also questionable!) to anyone for anything! When I see how she was on the quote, I am glad I never used her company for any services. Ultimately the other contractor got the job because I had no alternative. Expenses are now over $120K and ongoing, but I am happy with the work.
