He does a good job. He has good communication skills. He loves his work. If his employees make a mistake or if I am not happy with anything, he will come and correct it.

This contractor, Chuck Whiteside, let me to believe that he could build a small house for me for 150 - 180K when the remodeling project I had originally planned looked too messy and needed too many variances. Based on his estimates, I decided to tear down my small 1935 cabin to build a small house on the same footprint. His "planning" wandered on for 6 months and $5,000 while he brought out different people to look at the project and as he drew plans on paper. He finally got an architect on board and that was the only thing that he did right. The architect drew up plans but Chuck did nothing except lead me on. He finally left me an email telling me that he didn't think he could do the project. He left me high and dry and $5,000 less money. I should have known that he was unethical when he told me not to go with Wiedman, the company he was working for, and told me that he could do the remodel project for less.

He is very, very knowledgeable. He used to be in the computer business and is now a contractor, so he is not the ordinary person that you meet. He is very good with old houses, which is his expertise. Everything went like clock work. He was there when he was suppose to be. I think the entire job was approximately $8000. I had given him a deposit and when we settled up there was one minor thing wrong with the chimney, and he said that he would take care of it on Saturday. We settled up Friday evening, I had paid him for everything, and on Saturday morning the chimney was fixed. His follow-up was very, very good. He emailed me photographs of the job as it was being done. I was very happy with him. I had used him before to inspect houses before I bought them. He is someone I am going to use on a long term basis. I have been very satisfied. I don't like to recommend people that I am not certain about. If I had any kind of old house problem, that I thought was beyond my expertise one-on-one with a repair person, I would hire him. The way it works is that he adds on a percentage of the contract, because he has other people do the work. If it is something that is really involved another contractor could blow smoke in my face, but couldn't blow smoke in Chuck's face.
