This is a review for Chris Spivey of Precision Contractors. His business card shows a Sharpsburg address. As a small business owner myself, I hesitate to give other small business owners a negative review. I give 5x as many glowing reviews than I do negative and I go out of my way to recommend contractors who do a good job for us. Unfortunately, we had a recent poor experience with a local contractor and I felt it necessary to share our concerns to save someone else the misfortune of what we are dealing with. We met Chris through a well recommended General Contractor. Chris came to our project site with the General Contractor and was well aware of the scope before he provided his quote. Chris provided a verbal $x,000 quote to complete our project. He promised a written proposal prior to project start. He waited until the morning he arrived to start work to do so and at that time informed me the cost would be $1,600 more than quoted. I was highly disappointed in the bait/switch tactic and should have sent him back out the gate; however we wanted the project completed. I found Chris to be less than honorable in the remainder of his dealings with us. He did not do as he promised, nor did he show up when promised. We requested his licensing and insurance credentials - He delivered an expired (2017) occupational tax certificate and an insurance certificate with the effective dates removed, after the job started. Chris was dismissive and argumentative when I requested he review our Coweta County approved building plans and specifications. For example I had to tell him twice to move his stakes for the slab because the placement would result in part of our garage jutting into our circular driveway. He requested we schedule the footings and slab for inspection Monday morning after rushing (in roughly an hour) to prepare the footings and set the forms on Thursday evening. We had 3 teams of contractors at our home to provide a proposal to build the garage from the slab up. All expressed concerns about his work and the possible impact to having a good foundation on which to build. It was their recommendation we select a different contractor (they did not propose themselves) to finish the work. He arrived at 8:30 the morning of inspection. I attempted to discuss their concerns with him. His reply to the concerns was he is one of the only two people in Coweta that know anything about concrete and everyone else knows nothing. Given his argumentative response, I made a decision to remove him from our project because at that point I lost all faith in his ability to complete our project in a workmanlike manner and for lack of trust - (i.e. bait and switch on cost, not showing up when promised, refusal to follow building plans, providing expired credentials or credentials with effective dates removed) We agreed to terminate the project with a partial refund from the (40% down) I paid him to start. Coweta County PD was a witness to the promise of the fair refund check (certified) to be delivered to our home that day. He delivered our refund the following day deducting all but $290 for partially grading for the 24’ x 24’ slab, (it was 75% graded before he arrived), hauling off dirt, adding one load of gravel and approximately one hour of labor for him and his helper to dig the footing and prepare the slab for inspection. In our opinion, not a fair refund. Because Chris was brought to our home by a well-respected General Contractor we did not research his credentials or references. We have since done so. We found no Georgia Corporation listing for Chris Spivey for for Precision Contractor. He is not listed as an officer or registered agent of any company. He has no website. No google reviews. No yelp reviews. A blank business Facebook page, No Angies List account, no Home Advisor Account. There is nothing on the web about any concrete work he has ever done. Searching through all of the Facebook posts on Life in the Bubble, Life in the Bubble Fewer Rules and Chatty Coweta County I found his name only twice. Had I completed this research earlier we would not have hired him. The picture provided shows the site on the morning of the scheduled county inspection -- the contractor removed 6 pieces of lumber from the sides and rear.
Description of Work: Contractor engaged to grade, pour garage slab, wall, apron and walkway.
