BILL ROYAL CONSTRUCTION

We hired him as our builder on our custom house. At that time, Georgia did not require a license for builders. Bill had no license (our biggest mistake here) but He came recommended to us by a company selling polysteel products. Bill started off the work, but would disappear for many weeks at a time with no word. When i'd ask where he was, he would reply at Disney World with the grandkids. I'd say to him, don't you think you should of told us you would be gone? and he'd say something stupid like "Oh I don't know, should I have?" He was hard to track down. Bill ended up only pouring the foundation & framing the walls and ran off with our money. He ran off with a large sum of money that was to be for the roof, three car garage and two porches. He was gone for several weeks...it rained every day for weeks, therefore all the water soaked on the new framed wood for the walls & flooring! Causing it to develop mildew before the sheetrock (drywall) would go up. He did not even pour the foundation wall for support for the garage. Just the dirt was moved around to cover it up. Claimed he did do the work. Another builder told me to have the dirt removed & look at the work. I'm glad I listened to the guy because Bill never did the work properly. We had to fire him and he was long gone with our money. I now realize he spent it on that big trip to Disney among many other things he needed for himself. Also Bill purposely did not order a certain type of trusses we wanted for our attic. 'we wanted a room up in the attic so we could walk around up there. So when the trusses were dropped off on our property and he signed for the delivery, then took off. Later on I learned they were the wrong type and we would NOT be able to have the room after all. The company refused to take the trusses back because they where made just for our home. If I refused to pay the remainder of the bill, they would put a lien on our home so we could not get any more funds released to complete the house. So there was another huge loss of money. When I asked Bill why he ordered different style trusses, he replied because they were cheaper and our house was Big enough! He was pocketing the remainder of the money. Stole from us. We informed the bank about his running off with the funds needed to complete the house. So they gave us another loan to complete the house. The bank failed to tell us it was a SECOND on the house!! I had assumed it would go on the first loan. So when we were ready to close on the house, the bank informed us that we had 2 loans! One was at a balloon payment with a 14% interest! Due to Bill Royal's actions, we had to file bankruptcy on the house. We lost our beautiful home that we ended up completing ourselves and became so in debt over. It was our dream home for our retirement. Avoid him at all cost. HE's a dishonest man. He owes us sooo much money! Literally it's taken me years to get to this point and have the strength to write about this ordeal. WE have suffered a huge loss financially, emotionally, caused us great amount of stress, worry, tears, heartache, nearly tore our marriage apart, it affected our kids as well. Our credit has been ruined and 7yrs later we still suffer & pay the price for his actions. We are climbing out of this hell hole mess he created for us. AVOID this person/handy man/contractor at all cost!
