He took apart a Howard Floor clock; diagnosed the problem as a rusted suspension spring.
After 8 months the clock is still in pieces, and he has not found a replacement suspension spring.
I have made three visits to his shop to his shop to see if he can fix the clock.
As stated previously he has not made any progress.
There was no charge since he didn't fix anything.

Chris Hammond, owner of The Savannah Clock, has been working on the clocks (mostly antique) in our home for years, and working with him is always a pleasure--especially since our clocks ALWAYS work after he and quot;does his magic!and quot;
Last year he was able to restore an antique Sheraton grandfather clock to working order. Even though it involved several trips to our downtown home, taking back part of the mechanism to his shop, ordering and making various parts, he eventually got it working for us. Shortly after he completed the work, the clock stopped again. But he wouldn't give up (or charge us extra, as it was still in the warranty period he provides his customers.) After a few more tweeks, he had our grandfather working like new--and his price was fair and reasonable.
I cannot recommend Savannah Clock Shop highly enough. Even though it sometimes takes awhile for a clock to be repaired, it's worth the wait as you know it WILL work once you get it back.

I told him the former repairman had dismantled my clock and taken it back to his shop for a thorough cleaning. It never worked right afterwards and repeated calls went unanswered. It finally stopped working altogether. Mr. Hammond ( the Savannah Clock shop owner ) said the clock had NEVER been cleaned and that I should try to get my $$ back from Mr. Lathan. He pointed out a piece of the clock that had worn out and needed replacing, but said it would be very expensive (over $500) . We decided against the repair and he put the clock back together. It keeps the correct time and chimes now, but he said he doubted the chimes would last because of the broken part. He charged $70 service charge, $15 for a gate pass and $20 for his work time. -- a total of $105. He was timely and professional. I would highly recommend him. He is backed up on work, however, and one's lock repair could take a month or more. I liked him.

I highly recommend Savannah Clock Shop. I have several antique clocks and he has worked on three of them, very successfully. I brought him a very unique clock, probably from about the 1840's. He identified the problem, ordered the parts for it, fixed it and it is running beautifully. He does house calls but we're far from his shop. But he does do house calls. Otherwise, you can walk into his shop. He will take the clock. He is very busy and you sometimes have to leave your clock there for four weeks or so. But for clock repair, that's not a ridiculous amount of time to wait.
