"This job was not a basic "repipe" and the tankless water heater was installed on the wall 15' above the ground. This house is a beautiful older home in Savannah and, as such, has had improvements done over the years. As we got into the job, unexpected issues were discovered beyond, even what we allow for, that led to us calling to discuss additional work. It is extremely rare that we have to approach a customer about additional cost as we anticipate issues during our preparation for the job. Yet, this time...the customer hit the nail on the head when she said we need to communicate better and that she had been the one to sign the contract. I don't recall the reasons for the wife not coming to meet with our technician, but we communicated the problems with, advised the husband of and got verbal approval for the additional cost. Additional costs were incurred beyond the $7800 for which we ended up settling. In the future, we will be more conscientious of the party we are dealing with and get all changes in writing before continuing. The reason we backed down after speaking to the husband was that he was not going to stand behind his verbal approvals for the additional costs. We take full responsibility for this situation and will work to be better in the future. Thank you for your feedback."
