Very trustworthy and hardworking company. The boss man himself did a lot of the install. Very happy with the results.
...I am adding this about 6 months after the original job was done to say that we are still extremely pleased. The floors are beautiful!!!!! They are durable, easy to care for, and we have no complaints! Our 3 boys are rough on them and they seem to be a great investment. We hope to use this company again in the near future for other projects. It is really nice to know that there are still honest, hard working people left in a world. (:
My issue is with their mishandling of a discount purchased from Living Social. I paid $149 for $500 off a purchase. Even though it is NOWHERE in writing, I was informed that I would have to spend a minimum of $2500 to use the coupon I had purchased (in other words, to save $351). So my measly $1000 purchase was not enough. I even asked if I could apply it towards the purchase of something else in the store; nope! When I said we wanted to do some tile work ourselves, then I was informed the discount could only be applied to "complete remodels", even though I have no need for a complete remodel. The manager informed me they had a lot of other customers trying to redeem the voucher for small jobs, so the store was losing money on the deal. She said "we will never use Living Social again". I informed her that as a consumer, it is not my problem if the store made a poor business decision or failed to make stipulations in the fine print. The manager told me to call the owner, Darrell Miller. His cell phone was disconnected, and he did not return my calls on the office voicemail. When I finally got him on the phone, he literally yelled at me. He said no one else had an issue paying $2500 to use the discount. He refused to even refund the $149 I spent for the voucher, let alone apply the advertised discount to my purchase. Someone from the company finally called me back a week and a half later and said Mr. Miller was willing to refund me $75 "because that's how much the Living Social deal cost him." WHAT?! I was treated like some sort of pariah for trying to apply the discount that THEY advertised and I PAID $149 for! This is absolutely the worst customer service I have ever encountered from a business owner. I have contacted the Better Business Bureau and am waiting (and waiting) for a response. It is only a matter of time before Mr. Miller's attitude and dishonest practice drives this business into the ground.
"In response to (deleted member name) complaint: In researching: (deleted member name) purchased a Living Social voucher for $500.00 to spend on Kitchen and Bath remodeling, flooring and countertops for $149.50 from LivingSocial (a form of our business advertisement)to be used at Miller Surface Gallery, LLC. The instructions on the Voucher say 1.) To redeem, call 912-373-8960; appointments required and subject to availability. 2.) Be sure to mention your LivingSocial deal and voucher number 3.) Present printed or smartphone vouchers upon arrival 4.) Enjoy! * Cancellation/re-scheduling policy of 24 hours applies; voucher subject to forfeiture It also states: Refund Policy LivingSocial will provide a refund if you contact us within seven days after you've purchased your voucher. After that, we provide refunds upon request in cases where you are unable to redeem a voucher because the merchant has gone out of business before the promotional period ends. (deleted member name) first came to our showroom on August 25, 2012 and filled out our customer contact sheet that she was interested in counter tops, tile in shower, walls and floor. Our Showroom manager Zoe waited on her. On August 30, we received a voicemail from (deleted member name) saying his wife picked out some samples and was waiting on someone to come out and do the measurements. Chris Eanes was scheduled on Sept. 5, 2012 to do measurements and estimate for the job. They had picked out a granite that was no longer in stock (Millennium Cream) so they picked out a different granite. The customer was given two estimates, one for granite countertops for $970.00 and one for a Master Bathroom to install a Schluter Kerdi System and tile for $3,377.53. On September 13, 2012 (deleted member name) accepted the granite proposal. Chris placed the granite in (deleted member name) house and invoiced her on Sept 24. That evening she emailed Zoe asking about the estimate for the master bathroom and added in the email "We have a Living Social discount with $500 to spend on remodeling, and want to apply it to the countertop. How do we go about this?" This was the first that we were made aware that (deleted member name) had purchased a LivingSocial voucher. All customers were told with their LivingSocials vouchers that the remodel had to be minimum $2500.00 with the $500.00 voucher. It was posted everywhere in our store and (deleted member name) was informed of this at that time. Calista Stone Cutters received their $970.00 payment from the Cooks on October 5, 2012. Over five months later, March 22, 2013, (*the day before the vouchers expired) I received a call from (deleted member name)) Zoe had referred her to me. She wanted her $149.00 that she paid for the voucher refunded. I told her I would check with Mr. Miller and get back to her. I did check with Mr. Miller and he said he would be happy to refund the customer half of what she paid to LivingSocial which was $75.00. When I called (deleted member name) back, I asked her if she had contacted LivingSocial and she said she got nowhere with them and she did not accept our offer, she wanted the refund in full and said that she would see us in court. The voucher was not bought from us, it was bought from LivingSocial. The money was paid to LivingSocial and all customers were told immediately when they called of the stipulations, so they could get their refunds if needed. We don't pay for the LivingSocial advertisement; they get their money from the people who buy their vouchers. We have not heard from the BBB and we are still willing to refund the customer the $75.00 as a courtesy. We do not feel that Miller Surface Gallery has done anything dishonest. This customer did not follow the Instructions on the voucher and waited until the bill was sent to mention it. We pride ourselves on quality, loyalty and communication in the 20 years that Mr. Miller has had this business."
