I wish I could remember the young man's name. He was great! Professional, warm, and funny. He explained everything, and not in a and quot;you're a woman, so I'll have to talk down to youand quot; kind of way. I gave him a decent tip.
The tow truck driver was punctual and communicated well. When he was loading my car onto the towing platform from an angle, the car's rear driver's side wheel and tire were squeezed against the far lip on the platform. This and quot;squeezingand quot; scratched the wheel and gouged the tire in a couple of places. I filed a complaint with AAA, and a representative from Daiss contacted me three days later. Great, I thought. After being asked, I told the representative I wanted a new tire and wheel/rim. The response was, and quot;I'll get back to you.and quot; Well, I made close to eight calls during the next ten days, attempting to obtain the status of the job. After getting differing excuses and responses, including: and quot;The tire was picked up Thursday morning, June 12, but I don't know what they're doing with it. I'll have someone from that office call you back. (No phone calls were ever returned from the Service Center.)and quot;; and quot;Your tire was sun rotted, but we replaced it. Yes, we've got the tire and rim, but we're too busy today to put it on. Well, your spare is mounted, so you could drive it. We'll get it mounted tomorrow morning or afternoon.and quot; After several days of this and quot;tomorrow morning or afternoonand quot; promise, I escalated my AAA complaint on Thursday morning, June 20. I told the AAA area representative (after going through several menus and people), we were going to pick up the tire and rim; to which she said, and quot;Go ahead, and send me any bills associated with picking it up and getting it back on the car.and quot;
On the 14th day, my husband and I drove over to the Daiss Service Center, picked up the new tire and rim (which had been polished) took it over to the Autobahn Service Center and had them mount it back on the car. The quality of the new tire, which matched our others, and polishing of the rim was completed just fine. We did not have our car for two weeks, ten days of which were due to Daiss's highly inadequate customer service and abrupt communications style. In fact, although everything started very cordially, by the time we picked up the tire, communications had gotten pretty terse between us.
This overall experience could have been prevented by: 1) Initial adequate handling of our car in the towing process; 2) adequate communication as to their fix and timing; and 3) prompt resolution of the rim/tire within three days. We will never allow Daiss to touch our car again.
