My bedroom is held up by a lever beam in the basement supported in a concrete block wall. Over time the wall cracked so the beam began to sink down into the basement about 7 inches. It was causing havoc upstairs, the doors wouldn't close and there were gaps between the baseboard and the floor in the bedroom. I saw what was going on and I called them. He charged $1500 and he stuck with that price. He fixed it by jacking up the beam so that it was level again so the bedroom was back where it was supposed to be and the doors rectified. He also reinforced the beam with some posts. They should've been there from the house was built. He underestimated the weight of the bedroom above because one of the posts began to twist and crack before he left. I think he should have put a 4th post there. I bought a pipe jack from the hardware store and jacked it a bit higher and slipped in another post and now its doing quite well. He solved my problem but he didn't fix it as I would have liked him to do.
