Magnolias Shear

When I got there, I was surprised how small and dark it was. The close quarters made me feel claustrophobic and uncomfortable. I checked in with the receptionist/owner who was scheduled to do my hair, but she had double booked herself and passed me off to another stylist who was out smoking. The owner went outside to find her, while I pondered leaving because I did not get a good feeling about the place.
The smoker came in. Now when you go to a hair stylist, one would expect a stylist with a nicely styled, fashionable hair. I got a stylist with an '80's Farrah Fawcett do, with a little bit of afro frizz thrown in!
She came in smelling like smoke and showed me to her station, which also smelled like smoke and in such a cramped area, it was suffocating. I explained how I wanted my hair styled because I was new to Georgia and I didn't want to be too hot. She explained how I need to add product to my hair to cut down on the frizz, really? She looked like she stuck her finger in a light socket and I'm supposed to take anti-frizz advice from her?
She trimmed my hair, not the way I wanted it, but just like hers! Wonderful! I didn't say anything because I got the impression that she only knew one hair style and that was it. Welcome to the '80's!
I went to pay. I pulled out my debit card, because seriously who carries cash these days. I say, 'have debit card, will travel.' I handed over my card and I was told they do not take cards, only cash. I was shocked and embarrassed. I had NO IDEA they didn't take any kind of card. This is a little piece of information I could have used before I got there. I made arrangements to take my Farrah Fawcett hair to an ATM and get cash.
Overall, they are not a place I would refer to anyone.

I called to make an appointment first thing in the morning. Not expecting to get in (it's Valentine's Day) I was given 3 available choices. I spoke with Maddy on the phone and upon arrival found her to be my stylist as well. Very professional and asked questions before we even started shampooing. I was happy with the experience from start to finish and would highly recommend Shear Magnolia's to anyone that asks!

No real problems. My call was returned promptly. The appointment was on time. The shop was easy to find and clean. Exactly as I would have hoped. I hate getting a haircut and Amanda made this a pleasant experience.

I had a great experience. I never quite know what to do with my hair. Amanda was helpful guiding me in making choices. She gave a great shampoo! Then, when cutting my hair, helped me understand my hair and what would look good on me. I was very pleased with the hair cut but she encouraged me to come back if after washing and styling it myself I thought it needed anything. Well, after washing and styling it myself I did think it needed a little fixing and Amanda worked me in at the end of her day and trimmed my hair for free. She has a bubbly personality and we laughed a lot. I felt very comfortable with her and am even thinking about letting her put highlights in!

Overall my experience was great. Parking access was easy, the spa is pretty and smelled good, I liked her music.
