Sharper Impressions Painting

Chris was an excellent communicator. He came by every day and gave us an update on the progress and timeline. The painters were very professional and courteous. They cleaned up every day and collected their trash. I am very happy with the quality of their work and strongly recommend Chris and his workers to anyone needing an exterior or interior painted. My kitchen cabinets were white and they painted them gray which look amazing!

Chris and the guys were awesome! Made sure I was completely satisfied before wrapping up. Took the time to address numerous pre-existing issues with both the house and deck. Overall an amazing transformation!

Chris was assigned to our estimate and helped walk us through every step of the way. Was very attentive to what we needed to have done and we never felt like he was pushing us to do more. He explained every part of the process to where we knew exactly what was going on and what they were going to do. He and the painting team were on time at every interaction we had. He was very responsive to my further questions by email and even came by on both days of the job and did a final walk through to make sure we were pleased with the job. They used high quality paint as well and informed you of exactly what they were using. The painting team did a wonderful job. I highly recommend working with Chris and Sharper Impressions Painting.

Great Job! Again!

After meeting with Chris, we were looking forward to getting started. However, they did not deliver as promised and left our home in worst condition than before. They used the wrong color paint throughout our home, spayed painted our son's custom drapes and never told us, and destroyed walls that were not under contract. We gave them opportunities to fix their mistakes and still they were unable to deliver a professional work product. After sending Chris a list of the things that still needed to be corrected, instead of contacting us to resolve them, the company attempted to be a lien on our property. Keep in mind, that I sent my list yesterday (the day they left), and received an email for a lien the following day. Please beware of this company. We have lived in our home for 17 years, had several different painters over the years, and have NEVER experienced such a rush, unprofessional paint job!

Sharper Impressions Painting Co (“Sharper”) met or exceeded my expectations. They painted (two coats) the walls in 7 rooms comprised of 2,257 SF of wall space in 1,240 SF of floor space with 3 men in 2-1/2 days. In addition to the walls in these rooms, they painted a stained mantle and surrounding bookcases; they sanded these wood surfaces and removed the 12 shelves and 6 doors and spay-painted them (outside) with primer and top-coat. They re-located heavy furniture and removed and reinstalled a wall mounted TV. All work looks great. The workers were polite and attentive to our needs. The project manager attended the job site before the work began to review the work requirements and he visited the job every day and demonstrated with words and deeds a sincere desire to meet our needs. He was very knowledgeable and attentive to details. When the job was complete, he did a comprehensive inspection before presenting the invoice. No down payment was requested. I almost ruled out Sharper after reviewing the comments on Angies’ List; however the outstanding BBB reviews prompted me to send Sharper a detailed list of questions concerning the negative issues in Angie’s reviews; Sharper’s responses were genuine and totally satisfactory to me. I believe there may have been a much weaker project manager a few years ago, but that weakness has been completely cured with the current project manager. Sharper’s price was excellent. I learned of Sharper thru a mailing advertising a 25% discount. I got 3 quotes, Sharper’s discounted price was 37% less and 29% less than the other two quotes. Sharper’s un-discounted price would also have been the lowest price. There were no adders – the final price was the quoted price.

DO NOT USE! I hired Sharper Impressions, but all work is done by subcontractors. As you can see from the attached pictures, the company simply painted over old paint. It looked okay for a few months, until the new paint peeled up. The Mr. Michael Thiede, who heads up the Georgia office. Mr. Thiede simply ignored my numerous emails, phone calls, and texts. In desperation, I called the founder and president, Mr. Geoff Sharp. To my disbelief, neither did Mr. Sharpe return multiple calls. I was appalled by the temerity and apathy for a company that bears his own name. I had to open BBB Complaint Case #27666245. That was six months ago, and still no response from this company. A truly reprehensible way to conduct business.

It went very well! They pressured washed it one day and stained it the next afternoon. They took extra care to cover the fence well and the fence looks better than when it was new, 5 years ago. The painters were extremely polite, professional and cleaned up after themselves. They left the area very clean and the only evidence that they were here at all was the new looking fence.

I regret having to leave a bad review, because I really liked the owner. Michael Thiede (owner) was very professional, but unfortunately the folks actually performing the work were hacks, and there did not appear to be anyone checking on his work . Drop cloths were not used, leaving drips and drops of paint throughout the house on the floors, trim, etc. The drywall repair was done by the same low quality painter, so I'm not thrilled with that result either. To his credit Michael was willing to send his guy back to clean, but by that time we had about enough of his guy. On a side note- I came home one night to a house heated to 80 degrees. I also found hot coffee in our coffee machine urn. The painter also offered to perform additional work outside of his relationship with Sharper Impressions. Not impressed.

The owner of the company was a nice enough fellow, who seemed knowledgeable in paint and paint contracting.  He offered a 25% discount on all work performed.  I discussed the primary job and few secondary items (adders).  The bid sheet was very professional with a final price highlighted in bold print at the bottom.  His bid price was on the high side of all the contractors I took bids from, but I was satisfied from our discussion that he had the crew and the knowledge to perform the work.  Furthermore, I expected to pay more from a company that was bonded and insured to do the work..
After accepting the bid, I did not hear from the company for about a week or two.  When I called to find out where I was in the schedule and confirm acceptance of the bid, I was delighted to find out that they were ready to do the job in the next day or two.
The day the job began, I was a bit surprised to find out that the job had been subcontracted to another company.  The subcontracted workers were nice enough, but I had expected employees of Sharper to do the work.  The work progressed at a quick pace and the job was done on time.
I was satisfied with the final product and only needed to have one item repainted because I thought the paint was a little thin in one area.  Nothing big.  The painting job looked very good.  There were no spills and I was very satisfied with the final look.
My biggest surprise came when I paid the bill.  The bold face total on the bottom of the bid did not include any of the adders, which increased my cost by nearly a thousand dollars, making this the most expensive painting job I have ever hired.  I discussed this with the owner that a big bolded total was a bit deceiving, since that is what I used as a basis for weighing the bids.  This big bold number is what caught my eye.  In the end, I paid him his fee.
This company did good work for me, but I did not like the final bill.  The 25% discount is a gimmick for prices that are way high to start with.

They came on time and seemed nice enough. A guy his cousin and wife did the work. The man heading the paint job kept pressuring me to pay him to do work under the table and pay him directly. I expressed my discontent and told him I was a business woman and didn't believe in doing things like that. He was intimidating and told me that the company would charge me so much money etc. I finally called the company and he told the man to leave my house and fired them. The company promised to make good on some things that were left undone. I paid him then and he said he was short on help and it would take a couple weeks and I told him I understood that he lost his crew and I would wait. He Promised me to come back and take care. Finally I called again and some manager answered his phone and said he was no longer with the company and I would have to file a warranty claim. What warranty!! I never had the job completed! He acted like it wasn't his responsibility and could care less about
what I had been through. I complained to BBB and he gave some totally false reply and they closed the case. They don't have adequate crews to finish all the jobs they sell. They don't watch over the jobs and the crews and that is why these things happen.
I call it being greedy. In return they get people stealing them blind and leave customer hanging.

The quoting process went well, but that was about it. The project was managed poorly. Brad blamed the new immigration laws as the reason why it took him almost 6 weeks to start the job after the signed contract. Finally one of his crew members called to say they were coming the next day. He never showed. About 4 days later, a different crew member called to schedule a time to come pressure wash. He showed up with the wrong color paint which then was accidentally spilled in my driveway (he did clean it up.) There were 2 painters that were at our home for about a week. The painters did a fine job, but we had to make all the calls, go to the paint store to look at the colors, call the color specialist, etc. We went with Brad because he sold us on his turnkey solution, but we had to manage the whole process. A disappointing experience.

They left stains on my brand new carpet because they didn't cover the floor. The paint job was not done very well. Overall, the experience was very poor. We had inexperienced painters doing the work. The job should have taken four days, and it has taken them two weeks to make it whole. They actually caused me injury because they took down a shelf, put it back up, and when I went to put clothes back on it, it came down on me. They had to have someone come back out and fix that aspect, causing me lots of delays.

This company was impressive during the initial site visit to discuss the work, provide a price estimate, schedule the work, etc. -- they seemed very organized and thorough. I selected them over some slightly lower-priced alternatives. The quality of the work was OK. I was disappointed that the company did not provide a final inspection of the project by the manager -- which was promised, and which was one of the reasons that I selected the company (over lower-priced alternatives). When the project was finished, one of the painters said the manager was too busy to come by, and that the manager had asked him to pick up the check. Due to a language barrier, it was slightly difficult to communicate directly with the painters (for example, when requesting completion of final details). The painters who performed the work mentioned that they also worked for one of the other companies that I had considered. So I think I might have gotten about the same quality work if I had chosen that (lower-priced) company.

It went very well except I picked the wrong color stain. Advice for others you cannot tell the true color by those little paint swatches. I had to buy more stain.

We experienced a very high quality job. The crews were polite, on time, and the the final cost was right at the original estimate. I highly recommend Jay Willard and his painting crews.

Their pricing was great. Although there were initially some deficiencies, they can back and made everything right.
