I earned my science degree in forestry in 1953.  I worked in the hardwood industry for 60 years, the last 40 was traveling all over Asia utilizing my knowledge & experince performing hardwood business.  That said, I know the difference between dying trees & live ones.  I have a huge 60" plus dbh 200 pluis year old water oak tree on my property.  I was informed by 2 different arborist that the tree was dying & required complete removal.  Thankfully, I found Ed Rigby, a knowledgable person with 46 years experince working to preserve historic trees.  Ed & his 3 man crew spent an entire day pruning my beautiful, classic, oak tree.  What impressed & amazed me most was watching his tree cutter climb 50-60 feet up & out on the limbs without using leg spikes, only his muscles & 16 years experience.  Ed Rigby worked the entire day with his crew, directing & supervising the work.  My tree is now well preserved for 2 or 3 more future generations to enjoy.  I highly recommend Rigby's tree care service, to evaluate all homeowners with special, classic hardwood trees in the Atlanta area, before they decide to have them completely removed............come & see my MAJESTIC WATER OAK TREE

Mr. Rigby has helped us with aesthetic, safety and maintenance tree work in the past, so when a tree started decaying on my lot, I knew who to call. Mr. Rigby was quick to come for an estimate, and quick to schedule our work when his estimate turned out to be the best one again. He and his crew took down and removed a very tall tree on a slope in my yard with no fuss, and the cleanup was well-done. All that's left is the stump I wanted to keep in the ground.

This is the second time I've used their services and it was exactly like the first- exceptional. I paid for a full days work and received a discount for using them a second time. I received the estimate on the 25th and they were able to come on the 26th.
This company is very good at taking down tough trees without bringing in cranes, etc. and cleaning up after the fact. There was probably 3 inches of sawdust on everything right after the trees came down; and once they finished up, you didn't see but a speck of sawdust. I'll definitely use them again and highly recommend them.

Ed responded to my message requesting a quote and came out the next morning. He quoted a day rate to remove all of the dead trees and mobilized his crew that morning to perform the work. All trees were limbed and then taken down from the top down either by a climber or from a bucket truck. One of the trees leaned completely overhanging the house and deck, the canopy of another spanned a neighbor's fence, a third was over the power line drop to the house. All of the trees were expertly dropped with no damage to property or the crew. It took 4 truck loads of chips to haul everything off, Ed left one of the loads of oak chips in my natural area to spread as mulch. This crew worked diligently, finished the work in one day, and left everything clean. My neighbors were also impressed and one has already hired Ed to do some work as well.

The project started with a very large oak (approx 3 feet in diameter) that had started leaning toward the house. There were also 5 other trees that I wanted to cut down while working on the oak. All of the trees had to be cut down and lowered by rope as to not damage landscaping, fencing, etc. In addition, all of the trees were in a heavily landscaped back yard and were impossible to reach with any type of removal equipment. We also have a large putting green that was the ideal walkway for the men to carry the wood. But they could not use it and had to walk easily twice the distance to go around. I received 3 different quotes for the work. Ed came out and made me feel comfortable he could do the work but also made recommendations for some trimming and pruning that were excellent. He is extremely knowledgeable. I also checked out his website and was impressed by the track record. The best way to compare Rigby's quote with everyone else is that I received much, much more for the money. The other quotes were the same or more for much less work. When I notified Ed of wanting him to do the work, he was very responsive from a scheduling standpoint. He and his team started at about 7:30 AM and worked until 6:00 PM or a bit later. They were amazing to watch execute the job. Very skilled, protected my property and did an excellent job cleaning up. All in all, I could not be more pleased with the work that was performed and highly recommend him and his team. By the way, one thing I really liked was that Ed stayed with the team the entire day. Really excellent job all the way around.

Contractor came out to evaluate all the pines trees in yard for damaged or potentially dangerous trees. We felt he was accurate in his assessment and took his suggestions. The company has the right equipment and crew of workers to perform the job like a good symphony. They took care of the property from time of dropping trees, to removal, chipping, and clean up. Price was very reasonable for such a dangerous job since the trees were too close and/or leaning toward the house. We will use this company in future when the next set of pine trees grow too tall in our yard's pine tree forest.

Responsive, professional and careful. Gathered bids from three services, quoted a day rate that was reasonable and then was flexible as we added additional work that was fair to both parties. Ed provided some advice regarding our remaining trees.

Rigby's showed up early in the morning and worked until 6:00 pm to finish the job. The trees were trimmed as discussed and all debris removed from the premise. The trees look great and has made a big difference in my yard landscaping. The crew was professional and did a great job. The price was as estimated.

I had two very very large silver Maple trees within four feet of my home. One tree had a very poor root system and the other had a split bark. The trees were large and heavy. I had three other arborists look at the trees and got various opinions from let's watch them to let's take down half a tree that leans toward the house. When the mother's day tornado's ripped through Atlanta I had a neighbor tell me about Mr. Rigby. I got the number off his website and within an hour he was at my house. He was kind and truthful and felt both trees should come down. They may not have fallen that day but it was a clear and present danger. I could not afford both trees but Mr. Rigby said they were in trouble and so he negotiated a wonderful price and came at 8AM the following day to remove them. Their expertise in doing this large removal was remarkable to watch. We even had an audience of parents and children. We watched them rope the trees and put them on the ground exactly where they wanted them. They were careful and percise which is an art on such large objects. Mr Rigby stayed with his crew the entire time and saw that things ran smoothly from start to finish. There was absolutely nothing disturbed around the trees and all landscape was intact. I was sad to see my beautiful trees go but the house is safe now (at least from those trees). I could not be happier with the work and the careful attention to detail and to my personal delima. The price was very fair for the hot and hard work and they were all very professional and kind. I can only say thank you.

We called Ed for an estimate on a Saturday. He arrived at our home 30 minutes later, as promised. After discussing the project, Ed estimated it would take his crew 2 full days to do the job, so he quoted his standard 2-day rate. We had previously received a [higher] quote from another service. The primary difference between the 2 quotes involved the other company needing to rent a crane to remove a huge tree from the wooded hill behind our house. Ed said his guys would do the work by hand. Ed and his crew arrived on time to do the work, Ed was on site personally managing his crew for the duration. The project required an additional half-day, but the price remained as originally quoted. We had real peace-of-mind about using Rigby. It's clear Ed looks after his staff (doesn't use cheap labor). The City Arborist (who had to approve removal of a couple trees due to their age) told us he wished all tree removers were as conscientious and responsible as Ed. Rigby cleaned-up perfectly, too.

Called company and Mr. Rigby came out for estimate thirty minutes later. We surveyed the property and he gave excellent advice as to what needed to come down and proper trimming of trees. Other companies asked only what I wanted done without the knowledge of trees and their surroundings that Mr. Rigby imparted. The crew worked half a day very throughly with Mr. Rigby there to supervise all the work. Constant clean up throughout. After work completed survey of property done to my satisfaction. I would highly recommend their company and would use them again.

Ed returned our call within an hour on a Saturday, came to give an estimate within two hours and began the work at 8:00 a.m. Monday morning. We were impressed with his knowledge and advice as we walked the lot. Ed, as an arborist, knew his trees and plants, what trees posed a danger, how to open the woods for air flow, what to allow to grow and fill-in and how to best present the house in the front. He and his crew were very pleasant, hard working, professional, prompt and fast. Ed was on site all day working and directing his crew as to which trees to remove and which limbs to prune, etc. This was not an easy job since this was a large corner lot situated on a hill, but that didn't stop them from working hard and fast. We couldn't have been more pleased and would recommend them to anyone. Great value for the money and the most enjoyable service we've had done in a long time.

Overall the experience was pleasant and though there were some bumps along the way all turned out well. The crew worked hard and I was happy to pay for the work performed. The service was experienced, professional, and did not leave any mess aside from saw dust. Rigby was very conscious of the underground hazards in my yard and worked carefully around them.

Cut the one trunk of three trunk river birches to the ground, when I wanted to just branches trimmed. Ruined the effect of three trees. Charged a day rate significantly higher than other firms.

Everything that you see on Angie's List is pretty much dead on. Mr. Rigby really knows what he is doing. I had several estimates done and not only was Ed priced right, he obviously knew the most. Every other company that came out to do an estimate only wanted to know what I wanted done. I'm not the expert I wanted advice that I could make a final decision based on and Ed gave it to me. I feel confident that I won't have to have any major trimming done for another 10 years. Getting it all done at once was definitely worth the money. I'm also amazed at how much wood was taken out and yet from the street my pine islands still look full. I'd recommend Ed to anyone and would use him again in a heartbeat.

First of all Ed Rigby came out promptly to assess the work needed and provide a firm estimate. He and his skilled crew arrived on schedule. To watch them go to work was quite amazing. The tree climber and ground crew were awesome under Ed's watchful eye. They rigged rope lines and the tree limbs and chunks literally flew through the air towards the chipping machine like a well orchestrated circus trapeze act. They did exactly what I wanted and left the entire area very clean and did not damage anything. The care taken to preserve other plants and trees in the work area was much appreciated.

Ed was in our neighborhood working at two houses, and we asked him for an estimate since he was already there. We needed to remove a few trees so we could expand our backyard with room for our kids. We have had trees taken out before and know that we will receive competitive pricing from a service that is already in the neighborhood. We had 15 trees removed, all in one day. We looked at his work in the other yards first. His crew thoroughly cleaned our yard and blew off the driveway. Nothing was damaged. Except for the stumps, you wouldn't know they had been there. He also took out a smaller tree at no extra charge. He recommended a stump grinder, who did an excellent job for a reasonable price. I would hire Ed again.

At first, Ed and I played phone tag, but he was very responsive and persistent in getting in touch with me. We were finally able to get together for the estimate and Ed was very knowledgeable about trees and addressed my concerns about the pine trees close to the house. I had met with another tree service company, who had marked about a dozen trees, none of which were the pine trees I was concerned about. When Ed came out, we went through and he recommended that we cut down about 10 more trees (mostly pine), which was much more to my liking. He said they could start the next day and gave me a flat rate for 1 day's work. Ed and his crew came out as promised and did the work as promised. Ed worked just as hard as his crew, impressive. Ed even made 4 benches for the backyard (as a quiet area) at no extra charge. I highly recommend this company.

Mr Rigby was very responsive to our call for & estimate, in fact came right back a second time to re-estimate when the scope of the project changed. He returned phone calls very promptly as well. Upon arrival for the estimate we walked the property and he made recommendations based on his years of experience. For 3 40' trees which were quite close to the house and for which we were originally unsure as to whether to cut down or not, he diagnosed interior rot at the base of the interior. This was not apparent to the untrained eye. We decided to cut them down and sure enough when we looked at the stumps, the interior rot was obvious. Mr Rigby's crew was well trained, quick, efficient and professional. Quite impressive, really and Mr Rigby consulted with us throughout the process. They use techniques to control the direction of the fall of the trees to minimize damage. They left some fireplace sized logs and wood chips for ground cover. I wholeheartedly recommend Rigby's Tree Service.

Ed and his team were on the job first thing and the morning and worked hard all day. He charges by the day and for the amount of work done I really feel I got my money's worth. My wife (who is very sensitive to ''sales'' people) was alone when Ed came to give the estimate. Her first impression was glowing about his character and professionalism. We actually cancelled other estimates and gave Ed the job that day. Ed does the felling of the trees himself. Here are two videos of the last two trees coming down. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-3146062634183074238 and http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=6625397700789449429 . His precision is uncanny, and he told us in advance when a tree had to get hurt. They cleaned up all the mess they made. Also, they do not use bobcats, so the extraction of the logs is much less damaging to the ground. I have strongly recommended them to all of my friends.

They mulched all the debris, cleaned up all the work, damaged nothing and did an excellent job! Their prices were very good, considerably less than 6 other estimate that I received! His crew was very respectful!
