However, In November 2013, we found leakage and water damage at the chimney flashing during a siding replacement project. This had caused structural support (wood) damage and a large crack in the drywall in a room directly under the chimney. In order to complete the siding job, PRC verbally agreed to reimburse the siding contractor for necessary repairs in November, but have not paid. The drywall crack has not been repaired.
At the same time (November 2013) we found water damage on the ceiling of the garage and another room. To investigate, we cut through the garage sheet rock and can see visible 'daylight' holes in the shingles. This has caused leakage that is apparent as water damage on the ceilings, but the extent of the internal damage is not yet known.
While I have produced the signed warranty along with multiple pictures that clearly show the damage and problems, and PRC has acknowledged the roof is under warranty, they have been unresponsive. Joey has not retuned calls or email, and failed to show up for two scheduled appointments to review the damage. After 4 months, I see no sign that PRC intends to fix my roof or repair the damage it has caused. I would not recommend PRC based on their lack of attention to a faulty product that is still under warranty.
At first, I felt like I was tricked into signing their contract. When I say tricked, I was told that signing was the only way that they could go forward and that if my insurance company turned the roof replacement down I would have no obligation to them. So, I signed not fully understanding that if my insurance approved the roof replacement, this contract would basically force me to let Precision do the new roof. At this point, I really didn't believe the State Farm would approve to replace a 20 year old roof even if it had hail damage. Well surprise, State Farm approved the replacement. At this point we still thought that we could shop around and get bids. That is when we discovered that we had to let Precision do the roof or we had to pay them 25% of the value of the new roof. At this point, we were angry and not too sure how good of a company they were. I read the other three reviews on Angie's List and saw that the one home owner that had a roof put on by Precision was very satisfied. I asked Precision for more names of recent roof installed in my neighborhood. They gave me several names. In all, I talked to five other recent installs. All five of them were very pleased. I even drove by three of the houses to look for myself. Back to that word 'Tricked'. If I was tricked into having a $16,000 roof replaced with my insurance paying nearly all of the cost, I would love to be tricked like that daily.
After my roof install, two of my neighbors signed the Precision contract fully understanding of how it worked. One of them, my next door neighbor was turned down by his insurance company. At that point, he really had no other obligation. The other neighbor had his approved and got his roof put on in December. As far as I know, he is very satisfied too.
When I was talking to home owners that had had roofs installed, one of them gave me some advice about looking for nails. Even though the Precision does a good job of picking up nails, it is inevitable that some will be missed. This man advised me to look for them in gutters and around down spouts after a rain. In all, I probably found 20 nails. Some were in the gutters and down spouts and a few in the road in front of the house. I think that this would happen with almost any roof installer. I only mention this as advice to anyone, take some time and look.
After my roof install, I had three occasions to call Precision to come back. The first call was about one shingle that had a bad spot on it. The spot was about 3 inch diameter and it was on the front of the house where it was visible. I had also discovered a gutter that had gotten bent. A man came the next day and fixed both. The second call was about a leak around the roof vent for my hot water heater. Two men came the next day and fixed it. The third call was for another vent leak. This vent was for my upstairs heating system and the leak just happened to leak down onto a ceiling pull down ladder. After discovering this leak, I look closely at the topside ot the ladder and could tell that this leak had been occurring for a good time. I call Precision and told them what I had found. Even though it was not caused by them, they came out and sealed it anyway.
