Mastermind Design Build & Remodels

The work done on my house was done poorly ,sloppy and incomplete. I had to hire another contractor to correct and finish the project. The back step promised was never installed. Beware of deceiving contractors.

I hired Mastermind Designs to remodel my hall and master bathrooms. I was told the project would take two weeks or less — it ended up taking over a month. They said there would be a crew, but there was only one person doing all the work. The project manager, Nick, did a poor job communicating my detailed scope of work, which led to a long list of mistakes: wrong tile in the wrong bathroom, the hall bath built for a shower instead of a bathtub, missing GFI outlets, poor caulking, sloppy paintwork, and doors hung incorrectly. Because I live out of state, it seemed they thought they could get away with cutting corners. Thankfully, my cleaning lady visited regularly and sent pictures so I could catch the issues. I had to call them back five times after they said the job was “finished.” The only reason I didn’t lose more money was because I refused to release the final payment until everything was corrected. Overall, I would not recommend Mastermind Designs. The quality, communication, and management were all very disappointing.

We just got a new deck built, and I’m honestly blown away by how beautiful it turned out! Nicholas and the team really listened to what we wanted and made the whole process so easy and stress-free. The attention to detail is incredible, and it feels like the perfect space to relax, hang out with family, or entertain friends. Every time I look at it, I’m so happy with our decision. I’d definitely recommend them to anyone wanting to upgrade their outdoor space!

I’m beyond happy with my bathroom remodel by Mastermind Design! Nick and the team were professional, attentive, and delivered amazing results at a very reasonable price. They listened to what I wanted and made it even better than I imagined. Excellent workmanship, great communication, and a smooth process from start to finish. At first, everything was going accordingly, I received the check from the insurance company. I endorsed the check along with the contractor. I mailed the check to my Reverse Mortgage Company and they sent money to the contractor. When the contractor said he needed more money things went off the rails. The Reverse Mortgage Company said the Contractor needed to complete 60% or !00% of the work before more money could be disbursted. The contractor told me several times he would come back to do more work, he has not. He has not sent the Waiver of Lien form to the Insurance Co. nor the Reverse Mortgage company. The last time I spoke with the contractor he threaten a lien saying he would not send the Waiver of Lien form because it was his protection. A copy of the estimate of the work to be completed was given to the contractor several times. The contractor will not take my calls, so I send a text message and I have to wait until he text me back. On Oct 23, 2025 I requested another inspection. I contacted the contractor to let him know. The inspector called and told me he had spoken to the contractor during his previous visit and another inspection (final) was pending.

I contracted Mastermind Designs to remodel two bathrooms (hall and master). I was told the project would take two weeks or less and that a ?crew? of workers would be on-site. Instead, it took a month with only one worker assigned. The project manager, Nick Mallard, failed to properly communicate the detailed scope of work I had prepared. As a result, there were numerous errors and incomplete items, including: ? Incorrect tile installed in one bathroom ? Hall bathroom built for a shower instead of the required bathtub ? Missing GFI outlets ? Poor caulking and painting ? Doors installed incorrectly ? Inadequate cleanup of the job site Finally, I had to have Mastermind return five times to address issues that should have been done correctly the first time. I do not recommend Mastermind Designs for any remodeling work. Their management, communication, and quality of workmanship were well below professional standards.

They arrived as promised at 6:30am, and worked non stop. They were very thorough, good at what they do. The results were AMAZING!

This was a great team to work with! they were able to work within my budget to put in a brand new deck and remodel my kitchen!

He was really good and was professional. You could always call him anytime and he did everything I wanted.
