mortgage broker
 + -1 moreNot good. My recourse is in the legal system and as much as I'd like to get the promised refund and see them get the end of the stick that they deserve I'm not sure it's worth the time, added expense, and agravation. Don't do business with this company-period!!!!!
Description of Work: this company is a mortgage broker. They quoted a low rate to refinance but, when they couldn't secure that rate blew me off after having ordered and paid for an appraisal. They refused to send required paperwork (truth in lending statement, etc) and when finally confronted, told me that they would refund my appraisal fee and that I should take my business elsewhere. Needless to say, they never refunded my appraisal fee. The state banking and finance department can't prosecute because they actually didn't do anything illegal, just guilty of "shady" business practices. However, I did find out from the lender with which they work that they will cease doing any and all business with Georgia Southern because of numerous complaints similar to mine.

 + -1 moreCompany offered a rate a full quarter point less than competitors. Fees on Good Faith Estimate comparable to competitors. At closing, $420 in new broker fees magically appeared. Mortgage broker's explanation was that it was a clerical error they caught at the last minute. However, they never notified me. This felt very shady. I think it's more likely this company makes a practice of this and that most people don't notice because closing on a house is so complex with so much paperwork. Check them out on Better Business Bureau as well. They haven't bothered to respond to half a dozen complaints.
