In January I took a Tahitian pearl necklace and bracelet in to have the leather string replaced.  It took them over 3 weeks to replace it and I paid $60 for the repair.  When I got home I noticed the measurements to both items were wrong.  I took them back the same week to have them re-done and gave them the exact measurements. Five weeks later, it still was not fixed.  I called and was told that the repair jeweler couldn’t fine the right length for the gauge of leather needed.   I said that if they couldn’t fix it I would
be in the next day to pick it up and wanted my money back.  Lo and behold!  It got fixed.  They made a big deal about the gauge and length of leather needed.  Interestingly enough, Hobby Lobby right around the corner had the exact same material for $1.99.  This is the second time I’ve taken in something for repair and it wasn’t correct.  The first time was a watch and they didn’t put the seal back in correctly and the watch got moisture in it.  Never again Brown & Co.  The repair department is amateur    

The gemologist was very fair with me: Appraising jewelry gets expensive and he was professional but worked out a nice compromise given the number of pieces that I needed appraised. Also had a ring sized and my watch battery replaced there: Beautiful setting.

I went to Brown & Company Jewelers to have a battery replaced in my watch.  I’ve had several bad experiences finding someone capable of replacing the battery without damaging the watch.  I have a very thin Raymond Weil time piece and on one occasion the damage was severe enough that I was required to send the watch back to New York City for a thorough inspection and repair.  After that fiasco, I was telling a friend about my experience and he said “Why didn’t you go to Brown & Company”?  I have had 3 battery replacements since then, all at Brown & Company, with no issues what’s so ever.  They also included with the battery replacement pressure testing for water resistance; sealing and exterior cleaning. Though I haven’t purchased any jewelry at Brown & Company, I know many people that have purchased everything from watches, tennis bracelets and engagement rings and they all seem to share a commitment to the company.  I have walked through the store on occasion and found a pleasant environment; everyone was always extremely polite with no aggressive sales attack and no pressure. As many of my friends and acquaintances, I would highly recommend stopping first at Brown & Company for all your jewelry needs.

We had an appraisal done there. They're very professional. What they tell us is going to cost, it's going to cost.

The associate (Bob Johnson) took time to go over our options, but said that making a custom band there could be very expensive in the long run versus just finding a new one that would match what we had. We agreed not to have them make a custom band. In their estate jewelry section (used jewelry) we found the perfect diamond band, that was much less expensive than buying one of their new ones. We had some miscellaneous gold things and they bought those at a fair price which was credited against our purchase (with an increase in the gold price over just selling the gold without buying something else). The total experience was terrific. We were treated so courteously and the sales associate(Bob) was most patient and helpful. The atmosphere was great, everyone was cordial & helpful, and they all seemed committed to providing the best service. Bob ended up with a sale that was much less than we might otherwise have paid based on our expectations when we first went there. But, we know now that we'd never hesitate to shop there again and bring him additional business.

Every step of the process met my expectations.

We are consistently pleased with the helpful staff and good selection of nice jewelry we find at Brown. In fact, we don't shop at any other jewelry stores now aside from Tiffany's. Most of their products are on the high end so don't be shocked if you're looking for something inexpensive.
