Let me first start out that I have excellent credit, no forclosures or late payments, and am significantly above water with my current home. So, there are no issues that would cause any issues working with them. Discussions with the loan officer started poorly as the initial individual got in the middle of the discussion and then ended the call accidentally. This is a call center environment, so when I called back I was connected with another loan officer. He was friendly and helpful. I started the process on 7/23 and when they sent me via email the forms for signature and the needed information I sent everything back the same day. I was initially told this would take 30-60 days total to do the refi, and given this one was simple it really should be closer to 30. This was then assigned to a loan specialist, however she is not very accessible. It took two weeks to finally get to the appraisal stage. However, since all that was completed things have been very slow. I asked specifically about timing for closing, and she said it would be 60-90 days! I pushed back and also contacted the loan officer, and have been assured it will be faster. However, two weeks since that assurance I still get no information from them and my emails/calls get answered by very short emails 2-3 days later that indicate they are working on it and thanking me for my patience. Needless to say I made a big mistake in going with BofA on this. They are clearly behind and overwhelmed and their customer service leaves a lot to be desired. Once this loan closes and I look to purchase the 2nd home I will not be going back to BofA. I would steer clear of them. There are plenty of other lenders out there that will be much more responsive.
