VANN-AIR SYSTEMS CO

I just move into this home, and had replaced my thermostat. When my furnace would not come on, I assumed the new thermostat had been wired incorrectly, and called that provider to come look at it. They told me that the induction motor (I think) on my furnace was bad, and they could replace it Monday for $550. It was Friday and the weekend was forecast to get down to 30. I asked about possibly repairing it that day and was told sure, but it will cost more - $750. And that they couldn't guarantee that if they got that part working that something else would not turn up wrong with the furnace. I told them I needed to think about it, and they provided me a quote for a new furnace - $5800 for a 3.5 ton, 88 percent efficient Carrier. I called Tim Ortega with Air Maintenance for a second opinion. He told me on the phone that the competitors price for the motor sounded high, and that he was certain he could get it working for less than that. He stayed on the phone with me while I crawled into the crawlspace to try to give him the info he needed, and he came up that afternoon. He was able to get my furnace started without replacing the part, and charged me $185 to do so. But the really amazing part comes next - he told me my heat exchanger was cracked and that he would recommend I consider replacing my furnace, but that he could not do that work for me because he was not insured to work on propane. He connected me with Vann Air, relaying that he felt they were the most honest and trustworthy company in the business. Vann Air has now replaced my furnace AND my air conditioner with a heat pump - the furnace rated for 4 tons and 92 percent efficiency, for $5800. I was so impressed that Tim did not replace and charge me for a part even though I would have known no better, and instead got the one working that I had, and then recommended another provided to replace my furnace to his financial detriment. You just don't see that level of integrity that much, anymore. Well, I need to correct that - Vann Air referred me back to Tim to take out a mini split I no longer need, add one to a four season porch that I have and replace my humidifier. Such nice people to work with.
