SMALL WORLD DAY CARE

I want to first say that I'm not saying my child was not cared for or that this was an unsafe environment.. But if you want you child to learn to be creative and independent this is not the place..  We had went to a daycare in downtown Chattanooga for years and it was wonderful.  We graduated Pre-K from there and we decided to go to a place closer to where my child would be attending Kindergarten..  The owner was very nice and took time explaining everything to us. The other teacher was not so friendly and I just never felt she made my daughter feel welcomed the first 2 days (that's the longest we left her there)..  They had some crazy rules..  They had a 2 hour nap session which I thought was a little much for a 5 year old but they didn't allow the children to bring any sort of security (stuffed animal, special pillow, etc.)...  When I asked about this it was because they didn't have room for these items.. They had "TV time" in which my daughter said "I had to sit there like a statue and not move at all"...  When I asked about this they said they did this because the children would end up fighting if they were allowed to move..  My daughter wasn't able to draw just color a flower that was printed on a sheet of paper and during the center time the boys played with a little castle and the girls played with the kitchen..  I know you have to have structure but i felt like they as teachers were taking the easy/lazy way out instead of dealing with issues..  I felt like they could have given the children a lot more creativity and taught the value of consequence..  If you want a place the promotes creativity and a fun learning environment this is not the place for you..
