Day one, 8/4/09, began with the crew coming 2 hours late. On the contract, I asked that 2 small gutters be removed. The crew leader was asked 2 times to remove them, by the salesperson and myself. He did not. After removing the old shingles, the debris was swept into the gutters. New tar paper was installed. It began to rain. The water from the small gutters went onto 2 ceilings in the house. Water from the longer gutters entered the soffit and eventually the window/wall/floor. After the rain, 1/2 of the roof was completed in new shingles. Next day, 45 minutes late, they finished the roof. 8/6/09 I went into the attic and noticed sun spots on the floor. The ridge vent had been nailed in place and then moved, leaving the nail holes exposed. 8/7/09, 1 1/2 hours late, a new crew came to remove the vent and one layer of shingles. A new ridge vent was installed. I hired an independent home inspector to look at the roof and interior damage. He pointed out some questionable items. These were corrected 8/12/09. I have been in contact with the vice-president of the company and have been given permission to contract with another source to repair the ceilings. This cost will be deducted from the overall cost. The county building inspector came out 8/14/09 and answered some nagging questions I had. I have yet to pay because the manufacturer's inspector is to look at the roof.
