Upon the initial termite inspection, Enviroguard determined there was "no sign of termite activity" in or around our home prior to closing on our property. After 3 visits to our home to combat the cockroaches, we were still experiencing zero decline in cockroach activity. So we hired another company to see if we could get the results we were looking for. Thankfully, the new company was successful in eliminating the problem. In my opinion, at the end of the day, elimination of the pests is the point of a pest control service. Anything less is a complete waste of money.
We also decided our home needed a temite prevention system installed as the previous owners never installed such a system. Again, due to the lack of performance with pest control services as stated above, we hired a separate company to install our termite prevention system. In order to install the system, the new company performed a thorough termite inspection as the system comes with a warranty that states should any termite activity ever exist post installation, they will cover any and all damages to repair. After conducting the initial inspection, several areas of termite activity were found on the perimeter of our property and in many cases, were within 5' or less of our home. I was told by the new company that when termites are found (stumps / in the ground / decking / etc) this close to the home, it is "extremely likely" the termites are also inside the home. To eliminate the existance of the termites and protect our home in the future, we had to pay $1,900 for a chemical that would kill any possible termites inside the home.
Had Enviroguard been thorough and honest with us with their termite inspection, this expense would have been avoided and the sellers would have burdened the expense. I have contacted the owner of this company and explained the incompetence of his services on the pest control as well as the results of the termite inspection. He has said that he will follow up with me on addressing the expenses I have incurred as a result of their inability to eliminate our cockroach problems as well as the more serious issue of the termite inspection. However, from a service perspective and follow up, the company was great.
Due to our problems with cockroaches and being educated by the new providers of the chemicals and application, I have learned several things about pest control. The actual product used for pest control as well as the manner in which it's applied by Enviroguard is subpar. My experience would indicate they aren't pest "elimation" experts. They apply a chemical in basic ways and if it isn't effective, they continue to repeat the same process with the same chemical.
As far as the termite inspection, how these blatant and obvious activity areas could be overlooked or at a minimum mentioned to me as a possible "area of concern", are troubling. Had they been thorough and walked us through the possible concern areas, it would have saved me a significant amount of money.
