Bowen Refrigeration

We had a total of 6 companies bid our project.  Estimates ranged from about 8k to about 18k and so Bowen was in the middle. Based on the Angie's List reviews and grades, I called them first.  They were responsive, knowledgeable and polite.  They took the time to listen to my needs and make some tweaks to the bid to reflect the optimum set up and features we needed.  I never felt any "upsell" pressure or as if they were suggesting things which wouldn't benefit us or cost-justify.  Overall, they seem to operate this family business in a way that seems fair -- not price gouging or offering their service at a fire-sale price.  Maybe we could have had the work done for a bit less but I'm satisfied that we got what we paid for and that no short-cuts were taken or contemplated.  Our install took some extra time and at no time did that annoy them.  They sent me daily updates/texts/pictures so even though I was 600 miles away, I never felt out of the loop. And they left everything clean, too.  Great folks and they work with top notch brands which stood up to pretty significant web research.  I've already got them set up to maintain my new systems going forward.

I am still having a bad experience with them. They stopped working on it a few weeks ago. They sent someone out and first and foremost let me say that they are not pleasant to deal with at all. They act like you are inconvenience to them. They get annoyed when you talk with them. From the very beginning of the phone conversation, they are annoyed. They send somebody out and the motor needed to be replaced.  There was a sensor that needed to be replaced so they ordered part and they brought it out and installed it and the part didn't work. Lo and behold, the part they ordered was a rebuilt part. They put a rebuilt part in and they are going to charge the warranty company for a new part. Of course it didn't work so they had to reorder the part. They came out on the 9th which was on a Friday, they didn't order the part until the 14th. I called last week to ask about it because we got thanksgiving coming up and I have a lot of people coming at home and I need to be able to use my stove and I asked her. They said we will let you know if it comes in. I have yet to hear from them and quite honestly and quite frankly, everyone I have dealt with has been rude.

They did good overall. The technician came as schedule, did a diagnostic, and sent it into AHS for approval of repair. The next day, again they came at the schedule time and fixed the problem with my ac unit. It works great! GOD BLESS!!

The price covered the parts, sales tax, service call and labor charge.  I think there was a problem with the starter for the condenser.  We have used them several times in the past.  If you call them, they will try to get to you the same day, else usually the next day.  They try to get out as soon as they can.  My husband used them for his refrigerator when he first moved here, that was before I met him.  We have been calling them ever since.  I called them last year for our dryer.  It wasn’t working properly; it just took a long time to dry.  They were in and out in 15 minutes and it has been working great ever since.  We use them because they are approachable.  They will call you when they are on their way to make sure you will be home.  They work with you.

They failed to respond to our calls for help. They caused the unit to leak water on our wood floor and did not repair it. They sent a young man over to see the damages and never followed up about it. We filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau at the time of event. They have since been removed from the BBB list of affiliates-because of our complaints.
