Failed to meet appointment to repair water softener, never phoned and didn't return 2 follow up calls. Usual excuses, "part back-ordered" but he never advised when it came in, "sick" etc. Can't verify either way. Reached him from a different phone and he finally answered (caller ID issue?). I explained to him the meaning of taking money under false pretenses and who the Hillsborough County sheriff was. He quickly UPS shipped my cash back from another part of the state, never said anything about the backordered valve he allegedly received. Warning signs: Cash only payment (gave receipt, but could be bogus). Phone number on service order crossed out and found out later to be disconnected. Google search turns up a business directory that reports business possibly closed. This guy was dispatched under a home warranty policy issued by American Home Shield. They have been very responsive on other calls and their other service people excellent, until now. Lesson learned: your home warranty people may not always vet or revisit their call-out list. You have to do that, evidently.
