Description of Work: took up the old sod, laid new sod, in our back yard after applying lime and I think fertilizer and spread black soil. They laid new boards for a river rock (?) walk and sitting area and a three foot border of rock along the deck. |They pruned existing plants in the back yard and transplanted six or seven plants. They made two rock beds about 10' in diameter, planted a small Japanese red maple in one of the beds. They also treated the new lawn with an insecticide because of worms in our soil. Overall the work was satisfactory but not great like I expected because Joe Powell had done some landscaping in the yard a few years ago and we were very happy with that job. We thought he should use a lawn roller after the sod was laid but he didn't even after I told him the yard looked lumpy to us. Our biggest complaint is that almost immediately the lawn was full of weeds so I attempted to call Mr. Powell for advice. He didn't answer my call so I sent an email (as this had been a good way of communicating with him during the course of our project. He didn't even answer my email. I consider this very unprofessional and I am greatly disappointed in Mr. Powell. |

Description of Work: Designed and completed an area near my back door that was not growing anything due to salt water running through it from our pool. He used a brick border to prevent the water from entering that area, added new soil, planted several kinds of plants and a tree in the area.

Description of Work: Screened a 10x20 back porch.

Description of Work: Our land was completely wild, andJoe and his crew turned it into a really lovely garden. Our house sits on a sloped property with the septic tank drainage field below the house. THe drainage field was completly over grown and the woods were fast encroaching on that space. He brought in a tractor and smoothed out the area and provided easy access from the top of the slope. He gave us a gorgeous lawn surrounded by a colorful flower bed and a generous 5 foot wide step to acces the same from our lower level deck.. He graded and re-graveled the driveway (about 100 yards); graded the lumpy city area at the front and beautified the culvert area. His crew cleared all the dead brush left after the electric company sprayed, and planted evergreen holly bushes to give us privacy from the road when the leaves fall in winter. They planted encore azaleas here and there in the landscape to give us splashes of color, and filled in troublesome bare spots left by the well company. We are very, very pleased and would recommmend Joe to anyone.
