Overall, it should not take 4 months to install a Rennai Tankless Water Heater. I hold Rennai responsible for the general project due to inadequate training of installers graded as Gold Standard. Rennai sent a marketing/sales manager to checkout the installation when problems appeared. Rennai needs to hand the follow-up duties to someone who can make suggestions based on technical expertise. To date, the only follow-up I've received is an invitation to join their Facebook page.
Description of Work: 2010 3 December a Rennai Tankless R75LSi water heater was installed in my home in a laundry room on the first floor by personnel from a company recommended and certified by Rennai Gold standard installer. That company installed the Rennai based on their Rennai training. 2011 26 January another Gold Standard Rennai recommended installer came to my home to resolve a plumbing issue. The personnel from that company saw the Rennai and said it was not installed properly and they would move the Rennai to my attic and reinstall it properly. 2011 31 January both companies and a representative from Rennai inspected the situation. The consensus was that the tankless water heater needed re-installation and the move to the attic was ok. The original installers agreed to correct the problem, but I chose the other company for this reason: It was already going to do some extensive plumbing running through the attic so the relocation could be done at the same time. I received a pricing proposal that included both the relocation of the Rennai Tankless Water Heater and the extensive plumbing. Plumbing personnel for the company selected began work on the plumbing job. 2011 2 February they told me that they could not move the Rennai to the attic after all. At this point the walls in my home were full of holes to expose the the plumbing system. I called the owner of that company and he said they were correct and that there was no commitment to offer to move the Rennai to the attic. 2011 1 March The local Building inspector approved the basic installation of the Rennai as it met the city codes. 2011 10 March a Rennai representative approved the installation as technically ok, but the appearance was sloppy. A representative from the original installation company was present and committed to improving the installation appearance. 2011 23 March the original installers returned my home and sealed the holes in the ceiling of my laundry room left by them as well as the 2nd set of installers. I repainted the room myself.

Please refer to the following email exchange--- ME: Will it be harmful to the tankless water heater if I was to flush the system AS DIRECTED with vinegar once a month? You see I have very hard water and do not want to install a water conditioner. RINNAI: Dear Bertram Johnson Thank you for contacting Rinnai. Here are two pieces of periodic maintenance that you or your service technician can perform to keep your Rinnai tankless water heater running smoothly: In-line screen filter should be checked periodically for debris: (Period between filter checks will be dependent on water quality). Insure incoming water is turned off. The filter is located on inlet fixture below cabinet. Unscrew plug to remove. Expect some water drain off. Filter is a cylindrical screen. Also, flush the unit periodically (Period between flushes will be dependent on water quality). This process will keep the unit free of scale and lime If you need any assistance please let us know. Thank you, Chandra Hasnoo Rinnai Support MY THOUGHTS: Huh? It was a simple yes or no question and this is the response I got....what a bunch of dummies. I have already read the owners manual. If anyone actually knows the answer to this question please respond to this report (I dont know if you can cause I have never posted here before but I will soon see once I click continue)
