whole operation went smoothly as per above. Wonderful to deal with a family business that takes pride in their product and the way they deliver it. I also had 2 other companies give estimates. 50 floor came in at twice the price for the exact same carpet while claiming savings due to free installation. The other outfit was local and charged more for labor.

Before they removed the flooring, the put up plastic on the doors so that the dust stayed in the room they were removing the hardwood floors.  They cleaned the area very meticulously as to not leave any saw dust on the floor.  When they laid the hardwood floor they asked me first if I wanted the flooring to go in the same direction as the old one or a different direction.  The team was very courteous and conscientious about their work and keeping the area where they were working and the room cleaned.

Ready for a long story?  Approximately one year ago, Mayfield Carpets installed Armstrong laminate in our downstairs including living room, bathroom and kitchen.   Okay well I'm a procrastinator.  We noticed that some of the kitchen floor around the kitchen table and hall way was  not level, but I hesitated in calling Mr. Mayfield.   In the meantime, of course, our ice maker sprang a leak and caused the kitchen cabinet area to bubble up along the seams. Before we knew the problem I called and talked to Mrs. Mayfield.  She advised we call a plumber to find the problem and then suggested we contact them for an insurance estimate.  Mr. Mayfield came today.  I showed him the problem and he suggested claiming the whole floor on our insurance.  I insisted that this was unethical.  I wanted an estimate for the water damage only and told him the flooring around the kitchen floor was an installation problem.  (I shouldn't have procrastinated with my complaint)..He insisted that it was within acceptable standards.  I showed him one spot that the floor creaked and he admitted to that one spot.  I lost my temper (big surprise) and told him he could write an estimate but I would contact another firm to fix the problem.  He left after that.  This is the condensed version.  On another note, the Armstrong floor has not been very reliable and we will be contacting them about their warranty as there are separate areas of our floors that have sustained water damage.
Response from Mayfield Carpets
"[Member name removed] and I did have an unusual conversation. In my experience when dealing with insurance companies and customers are that the customer almost never understands how the process works. In my professional opinion [Member name removed] lost her entire floor, the water damage is extensive. She did not hear my explanation that beyond the damage from the water that there may also be a dye lot issue, meaning that the new flooring won't match by just replacing part of the floor, or the product might have changed in some other way in the manufacturing. Just by the humidity changing the part of the floor that appears to be undisturbed, such as mold or mildew, but she would not let me explain. The long and short of it is that [Member name removed] called me first and should have called her insurance to make that determination. Most insurance companies will go above and beyond to correct customer claims. But for some reason consumers have come to the conclusion that they will be cancelled if they turn in a claim. A fear the insurance company? As for myself, if I purchase a something (like insurance) I want to access to it. If you purchased a car, surely you would not leave it at the dealership. When [Member name removed] meets with her insurance company she may call me back and apologize for the unethical remark. [Member name removed] is a good customer and needs to come the understanding that the "whole floor" is damaged in some way."

I got several estimates and Mayfield was the 2nd highest.  Ended up using a local flooring guy recommended by a friend.  It took longer but the quality is excellent and the cost was about $7000.00 less!

Mayfield carpets originally installed the carpeting in my home when it was built 10 yrs ago. I returned again to replace the living room carpet. The owner Mr. Mayfield came to house to measure the room and discuss what ideas we had for the new carpet. We were invited the their new location to see the many samples of carpets on display. Mr Mayfield and sales staff were very helpful in the selection process. We took home samples they recommended and selected a Mohawk SmartStrand Silk Carpet.  Its the softest carpet on the market.  The installation crew was experienced and did an excellent job. They used the least amount of seams and placed them in proper locations. They moved all the furniture and reinstalled after carpet was down. I was very pleased with my experience with Mayfield Carpets and will be back in the future for my next room.

We had the worse experience with this contractor.  We do not recommend them to anyone, ever.  We would have written a review sooner, but we were in litigation with Mayfield Carpets.  Because we were so upset by the manner that Mayfield Carpets left our home, we contacted an attorney to help us.  All of the work performed by Mayfield Carpets was done in such an un-workmanlike fashion that it required a complete replacement.  We attempted to settle the outstanding balance and to reach a mutually agreeable resolution.  When Mayfield Carpets remained adamant that they would not repair their faulty work, our attorney instructed us to obtain an estimate from a local contractor regarding the amount of money that would be necessary to repair damages.
The following list includes some, but not all, of the problems:
a.  gaps between boards
b.  boards not lined up
c.  gashes in walls and baseboards
d.  exposed nail holes running the length of the several walls
e.  lots of off-colored putty smeared in between the spaces and gaps of boards
f.  boards split
g.  boards chipped
h.  floor scratched in several rooms
i.  some areas not finished off with shoe molding
j.  floor not laid down in accordance to the manufacture?s specifications
Mayfield Carpets filed a complaint against us in Magistrate Court on 12/19/2013.  You can find the civil action in public
records with Case Number: 2013MV01645.  After subpoenas, loss of work, and exhaustive attorney?s fees, we won the case (our counter claim) on 02/26/2014.  The judge decided that we did not owe Mayfield Carpets any money, but that they owe us $7,585.46.  As of May 2014, they have yet to pay the Court?s judgment.  We hope that they will do the right thing and pay us soon.
Pictures can speak a thousand words, so we have attached a few photos of their completed floor.  The photos were taken on 06/29/2013.

I was very pleased. Find another carpet company that has installation crews that have been with them for 20 years. Not the cheapest but  they were on time, courteous and went beyond just what was required to ensure a proper installation.

Although I'm sure they would have done a good job, their price was higher than the price I received from another company for the same carpet.  I would consider using them in the future if their price is more competitive.

This provider does a great job.  The only negative thing I can say about them, which I find very offensive.  While in their shop, it is impossible for them to  have a conversation with anyone without expressing their anti-Obama, extreme right wing gun toting opinions, which I find insulting. In fact, they had to carry my husband off and show him a gun, even after he said he wasn't interested.  I am in opposition to their political views, but they couldn't shut up, as if everyone they dealt with is of the same opinion.  It is backwoods country, and not professional.
So, will I return, I'm not sure. I find that part of dealing with them disturbing, even if they do a good job.  Thank you.

The job went very well.  The brought in a guy named Ray to do the job since there was so much detailed prep work to be done.  They were all very kind and friendly throughout the process.  The job started on a Monday morning and they were completely finished the same Friday.  I left the door unlocked for them to come in and do the work while I was at work.  I never felt uneasy about this at all.  They are all very trustworhy people.  The floors turned out beautifully.  I would definitely recommend Mayfield to anyone.

Mayfield Carpets, they did well. They were really good, nice people. They did a good job. They were friendly and nice. Our basement carpet had a big rip in it and we didn't want to replace the carpet. It was a carpet like you put in an office and some people came and said that they couldn't fix it. But Mayfield came and fixed it. Someone came out and said that they couldn't fix it. I don't remember the name of that company. And then we called Mayfield and they said they could. And then they came and they did it. It was pretty cheap. It was a lot cheaper than replacing the carpet. It was a good carpet. It was old but a good carpet in the basement. We didn't want to spend 1000 dollars to replace it. They came out and fixed it for 250 bucks. They just pulled it up and fixed it. It looked great. It is a carpet store, they sell carpets but we wanted them to check it out. We were looking at carpets but they just came out and fixed it. It took a while for them to come out. They were busy and it was like a small job. They don't normally do that but they said they will do it if they get a chance. And since we were in no rush, they did it. It took a long time for them to get to us but it was fine. We told them it was okay. They told us that it was going to be a while and would as soon as they could fit us in. They are very nice people. Everything was upfront. They mentioned that they could not come for a while. They get 'A's all the way down.

The ordering was easy and prompt.  The two young men who came to do the work were very pleasant.
They went right to work and it all was finished in short order.  Everything was put back in place.  All material was thoroughly cleaned up.  The new carpet was even vacuumed by the young men.
I will definitely use this firm in the future.

Mayfield Carpeting is the standard for best business
practices. Each of their employees proved courteous, knowledgeable, and
professional in every respect. New arrivals in the area, we went first to a
"big box" home improvement store (which actually subcontracts local
carpet sales, cleaning, and repair companies). While the store offered relatively
high quality products, availability and installation scheduling were
problematic, and ultimately, the value for the price was just not there. We
approached Mayfield's immediately before closing time in an effort simply to
get an idea of the company's selection: Joyce and Ferrol Mayfield insisted that we come in, and spent a significant amount
of time advising us about the advantages and disadvantages of various carpets. For
a similar price, Mayfield's offered an even more formidable carpet (tighter
weave, anti-microbial, pet odor and stain resistant, with a completely
impermeable padding [from top and bottom]) than the best available from the big
box store. Ferrol himself measured our house,
taking 35 minutes less than the big box?s specialist. On the appointed day, two
installers showed up on the minute, and the work was immediately underway. When
pet stains were found to have penetrated the wooden subfloor of one bedroom,
creating a number of active mold colonies, Mayfield?s techs immediately
informed me, scraped the wood, and applied a fast-drying paint-like mold
killer/sealer before laying the carpet. Once the installation was complete,
Mayfield?s techs swept and vacuumed thoroughly before departing. From start to
finish, ?it went perfectly.?

They were awesome.  Everything was wonderful.  They were very helpful and their installers were great.  They had to come back a couple of times because I had a flood and so things didn’t come together the way they were supposed to.  They laid part of the floor and had to come back.  They came back the third time to finish up.  They were very nice.
