Backyard Structures

This is a horrible company that takes advantage of clients. We hired Ron and his team to build a TREX deck for our home. He wrote the contract and took the payment in March and two weeks went by with no communication. After several attempts to reach him, he assured us he would begin the work on the following week due to weather. Two weeks came and went with no communication again and several attempts to reach him. Finally, after a late night call was answered out of frustration he stated the team would be there on Monday. Of course they were a no show and he later. offered a refund. We gave him two weeks AGAIN to refund the deposit of 5600 and we are in June and no refund has been received nor any communication. We have since reported a fraudulent case to our financial institution.

Ron Bell came on Jan. 6 and removed the old deck (not the frame). After that they failed to return. After numerous promises to complete the deck he finally provided what he claimed was an "invoice" for decking material. Turned out it was only an estimate and there material was never ordered. This occurred Mar. 22 and the estimate was written Mar. 15! He never ordered the material and we are currently finding another company to finish our deck. We have been living with NO DECK, only a frame for TWELVE WEEKS! It is a very dangerous situation as it is a second floor deck with exposed under decking and some electrical. I will be filing a law suit for the return of my 30% deposit.

A representative from BYS came to my house; looked at the layout of the deck and gave me a ball park figure off 800-1000 dollars. He was supposed to come back on 9-15 with a final price and plans for the install. When I hadn't heard from him by that evening; I called and was told he had forgotten the plans and estimate. He said he would be by later and would leave them in the mail box. Over the next week I heard how busy he was and how he was going to bring price and plans by later. Eventually; all I got was an answering machine with no contact from the gentleman. On 9-22-2015 I left a message to forget the job and started looking for another contractor.

I don't know if BYS was unwilling or unable to do the work; but they stopped trying to get back with me on 9-17-2015. I wouldn't recommend BYS to anyone who needs work estimated and started on time.

The two-man crew was extremely professional, and dedicated to the task. While weather interrupted the process, generally it went very well and was totally accomplished (except weather related delays in staining) in less than two weeks. The new deck is stained/painted to match our house, and is beautiful (and large). We have already had compliments from our neighbors. Ron Bell's team is very experienced and builds a deck with no details overlooked. Other than a couple of days early in the process when we were expecting them to show up, and they didn't, we couldn't be happier with the results.

Ron was very good at helping us to design a closed-in/screened porch, rework our deck and design our paver patio. The workmenship was very good and the couple of small issues we had were quickly corrected. We love our new outdoor space and would recommend Backyard Structures without hesitation.

Crewman Robbie outstanding with his all out effort for the two days labor. Robbie's work ethic and professionalism very apparent throughout the project. Ron Bell(proprietor) was on site for estimate through finished project. We couldn't be more pleased with the result. Finished cleanup was excellent. All that was needed as they left the site was a swim suit and towel.

BackYard Structures is a great company and our new front porch was a wonderful experience. From the beginning I was a problem because I was unsure of what I wanted. This required Steve Campbell, the owner, to make two trips and two sets of drawings. He did so without pressuring me for the job or for a decision on the design. Both my husband and I were impressed immediately with Mr. Campbell. We sensed that he is hard working, honest and willing to give us our money's worth. He came through with a new design that he had never built before and it is absolutely beautiful. We met several of the work crew late one evening and were just as impressed at their professionalism and friendliness. I asked several questions and they did not mind a bit. (I was not questioning their knowledge but want to learn.) Our porch was done so fast and efficiently; we were amazed. Both my husband and I are so happy with the construction and all of the extra detail work that was done without us asking. The front porch is better than we imagined and we are elated at the curb appeal it adds to our home. We are happy to recommend BackYard Structures to everyone and plan to use this company again in the future.
