"Thank You [Member name], You two are amazing people to work for, and I look forward to working with you both again! Thank you again! :-)"
"Thank you [member name removed]. I have enjoyed working for you and i appreciate everything. Look forward working for you in future."
The house I purchased is a 3 bedroom, 2 bath on the main level and a 2 bedroom, 1 bath apartment downstairs. After my granddaughter showed her through the house, I spoke to Wendy on the phone to get a price for the job. She told me that it would be much easier, and less expensive, to paint the walls instead of scrubbing them. I told her, in no uncertain terms, that I DID NOT WANT ANYTHING PAINTED! I wanted to live in the house for a while in order to decide on the colors I wanted on the walls. When I asked her for a price, she hesitated, so I asked her for a rough estimate and she said, ?well?hundreds?. In a later conversation she disputes this. She said I had it backwards, that what she actually said was, ?NOT hundreds.? I know what I heard and I know that if she had implied that the job would cost thousands, I would never, ever have agreed to her starting the work. That kind of money was not in my budget for that job. Based on my understanding of ?hundreds? as anything between $200 to $900, I was willing to let Wendy go ahead with the job.
I spoke to Wendy on Sunday to get a report on her progress. She said she had just arrived with 5 women to help her. She said she would finish on Sunday and come back on Wednesday to shampoo the carpets. I assumed she would call after she finished to give me a final price for the job.
We arrived with the movers on Thursday and saw that nothing had been done on the main level of the house. The kitchen and bathroom in the downstairs apartment had been cleaned, and the walls in the living room were painted! I could not believe that, despite telling her I did not want any painting done, she took it upon herself to do it anyway. In a subsequent conversation, she claims that my granddaughter told her to go ahead and paint as a surprise ?welcome home? for me. Even if she did tell Wendy to paint (which she denies), my granddaughter is not the home owner. As a business person, Wendy should know that the home owner is the only person authorized to permit work, of any kind, to be done.
I left Wendy a voice mail message to ask what her plan was to finish the house. She called back later that day to say she had a wreck and had been in the hospital for 3 days. She did offer to finish the house at the beginning of the next week but having already moved in, I did not want to be disturbed by people working in the house. The whole point was to have the house cleaned BEFORE we moved in. I got a text message from Wendy on January 31st with a different story about why she did not finish the job although she said she could not be honest with me about the reason. In the same text message, she told me I owed her $1,200 for the work she had done.
I was completely outraged that she would expect to be paid that amount of money when the job was not even finished! We've been back and forth about this issue for 2 weeks now. She claims it took 7 people working for a total of 300 hours to clean this 2 bedroom, 1 bath apartment. The supplies totaled $303 but she would not provide a list of those supplies. She sent me before and after pictures that she claimed would prove the amount of work that was done. There was nothing in any of the pictures that would support 300 hours of work by 7 people. I had been in the house twice before closing. It was not trashed and it was not dirty beyond normal wear and tear.
Against my better judgment, I agreed to split the difference and pay her $600 which I reduced by $150 for the unauthorized painting. I was ill and unable to get out to purchase a money order, and for that I received a text message threatening to make problems for me and my granddaughter if I didn?t pay her.
This woman is unprofessional and unreliable, and I would warn anyone considering her services to get an itemized list of work to be done and a firm (no estimates!) price for that work.
I am sure that Wendy's response to this review will be written in such a way as to make herself the victim. Ask yourself if a professional business person would respond in such a way and make your decision based on your observation.
Wendy was great. She came to my rental property in Stockbridge to clean the house while I was at work. I left the key for her in a hidden place. She arrived and did her thing. She cleaned the house from top to bottom including the ceiling fans, the doors, the walls, the baseboards, washed the dishes, cleaned and shampooed the carpet and cleaned all the appliances. The house looked and smelled great. Not only did she clean the inside of the house, she also cleaned the backyard of all liter and debris and when she was done she locked up my house and put the key back where she found it. And to top it off, that day I was having car trouble. my engine was smoking. I happened to mention it to Wendy and after she finished cleaning the rental home she came all the way to Lithonia with her Uncle to see what the problem was with my car. It ended being the heater hose was busted and it was leaking coolant. The next day she got another Uncle of her who was a mechanic to come to my house to fix my car! I tell this woman was a life saver to me. She not only cleaned my house she also went above and beyond and help me out with a situation which had nothing to do with her and I was a stranger, this was my first time having her come to clean my house! I will definitely recommend Wendy to anyone who needs their home cleaned and I will definitely be calling her in the future to clean my primary residence.
"Sorry, i do not know you. If we have never been in contact, why would you pay a review? Thanks again."
I had left an extra key for Wendy so she could lock up when she was done. I had no trepidation leaving it with her since she is very trustworthy.
This is an updated review based on 17 months of great service. Wendy and her team continue to be thorough and considerate. Wendy is willing to tailor her work to my needs. I love the attention to detail, her professionalism, and her price! I would recommend her to anyone!
searches for even the small items. I even had my house cleaned during the first snow storm. Wendy finished before she headed home. I think that was an all nighter. I feel confident she her applities to clean my entire home and not miss any areas.
I am very pickly and also very satisfied.
I actually hired her to clean my mother's house. My mother is elderly and cannot move around very well anymore and has animals she has to keep up with. Wendy came over, wrote a list out of all the things that needed to be done and came in January to start the process. She came on time and spent 8 hours at mother's house cleaning the upstairs bonus room, ripping out old carpet, fixing the door, etc. She will actually be coming back to work on the downstairs area next and then the kitchen after that. I am so impressed with her attitude and how she really cares about my mom and views it as her mission to see that her house is kept up!!! I am so glad I found her and she is the best 12 bucks I ever spent (approx. how much it cost to sign up for Angie's list). I need to also add that I live in another state so I have arranged all this with her over the phone. My brother has checked on my mom's house after Wendy left and he was so impressed with the "magic" she was able to work.
I will add too that Wendy isn't just about a quick cleaning: she is doing a deep clean and actually fixing issues like old carpet, doors that need fixed, etc. Wendy is not the person you hire to blow in and out with a vacuum cleaner and some Windex in 30 minutes. Money well spent!!! I just hope this review doesn't mean Wendy gets to busy for my mom. I plan on continuing to work with her!
"Thank you. I miss you. Tried calling you back. Cant wait to see your new house.... Its about time, you deserve it!"
If you need to reclaim your house, call Wendy.
Our house is 4 bedroom, 3 bath. approx. 3200 Sq.Ft.
We moved in 5 years ago and haven't deep cleaned since. Have 2 cats and a 3 year old.
The house looked better than when we moved in - and we had it cleaned when we moved in too!
Wendy and crew will do pretty much whatever you need them to do and has contacts and partners (hence steam cleaning).
Both crews (house and carpet) did a PHENOMENAL job!!!
You couldn't tell we had cats - or people for that matter :) - living at the house.
They even did a little feng shui (dresser and dvd shelf swap) in master that really opened up the room!
CRAZY GREAT WORK! You truly get what you pay for here! Great attention to details! We are having them back monthly!
They had to drive and extra long way to come to my house and my air conditioning was not working so the conditions were hot.
They were all really sweet and helpful and I hope to be able to get them back later to do some other cleaning and organizing for me.
I purchased a 1200 sq foot "townhome" (really converted apartments built in the 1980s.) I initially hired Wendy to do a deep move in cleaning. I hired Wendy because other reviews indicated she went above and beyond on cleanings and that she would tackle things that went beyond the standard checklist of items normally cleaned, like contact paper in kitchen cabinets, which is the problem I faced. When I mentioned I needed to do subfloor repairs and that I'd gotten an estimate from a handyman to do a few other odds and ends, Wendy told me that she could do it cheaper. She also walked through and pointed out all the flaws in my home that the previous owner had done when painting the walls - improper caulking, dents and dings and imperfections. She said she could paint it, and do it right, and she casually mentioned that she could paint the whole place in a day.I started by hiring her to do the deep cleaning of the downstairs, 600 sq feet, for $500.00. When it was all done it actually cost $600.00 - she said it took longer to clean than expected and she wanted to adequately compensate her helper. I thought it was reasonable then, because I was so glad that the place was starting to get clean, and I happily paid.We had walked through my home as I mentioned, discussing the work that needed to be done. We spoke in detail about my painted over wallpaper kitchen, and how I was leaving that for last because I thought that would be a nightmare job to take care of. Wendy said she would be able to do it, and she said this with great confidence.
There was a lot of communication back and forth but the final agreement was that Wendy would paint and clean the upstairs and downstairs, for $2500.00. This price would also include the repairs which my handyman had estimated would cost $600.00 (replace drywall in a closet, screw down subfloor, and patch bowed area of floor). Since I had already paid her for cleaning the downstairs, this would bring it to a grand total of $3100.00. Before she gave me a firm answer on the price, someone went ahead and started doing the work - sanding and patching upstairs and downstairs, even removing wallpaper from the one bathroom that I said to leave alone. Because that bathroom was their mistake, she agreed to include that in the price as well.
First issue: I found Wendy in the kitchen applying caulk to the walls that still had wallpaper on it - she'd decided to paint over the wallpaper, and she told me that I wouldn't notice the difference. I flipped out a bit because that is not what we'd agreed, and she didn't check with me before she started. She implied that I simply wasn't paying enough to remove kitchen wallpaper - so I said fine, focus on removing the wallpaper and painting the kitchen, and don't paint the other rooms downstairs. So for $2500.00 I am getting the upstairs painted, the downstairs kitchen wallpaper removed and painted, and about $600 worth of handyman fixes.
Second issue: A few days before the deadline Wendy texted me that she needed at least an extra $300 because wallpaper removal had been more difficult than anticipated. At that point I flipped out and told her to stop, because my budget didn't allow for that. We agreed that she no longer had to even paint the kitchen, just get the wallpaper removed and the walls ready to paint. She told me it was done (with just one day cushion before carpet installation). When I went to inspect I found the place in disarray. There was a layer of sanding dust on every surface - a finger swipe on countertops, stair banisters, everywhere, would show a coating of fine chalk. There were gouges in the kitchen walls. There were so many flaws on the painted walls upstairs, the same flaws that Wendy herself had pointed out, that were still there. There were drifts of wall dust on the floors in the closets. There were bags of trash that needed to be removed. There were the remains of debris from where she'd been smoking in the back yard. I even found an unflushed toilet upstairs.I called Wendy, and this is what she said:
1. No one had used the upstairs toilet.
2. I hadn't paid enough to remove all the flaws in the wall surface
3. The place had been cleaned and swept, she had seen to it herself.
She drove up, and we did a walkthrough. She agreed that some of the flaws I pointed out were definite issues. She also reiterated, again, that I hadn't paid enough to take care of everything. She said that the bumpy walls in the bathroom had already been like that (but if you are painting someone to "professionally" paint your home, wouldn't they sand those down?). She said that she had been told the floors were swept, but that I had said "don't worry too much about the closets", so they must not have bothered sweeping those. In the end, she reduced the price by $500.00. In total I ended up paying her $2600.00 for a dirty, half painted house, with painted areas needing to be sanded and redone, and botched repairs to the drywall - with only one day left before carpet was to be installed. (Plus $212.00 for materials)
I hired someone to sand and repaint the upstairs, kitchen, and the unfinished rooms, and he is doing it for $700.00. He is also cleaning, and he removed the trash and debris left in my place by Wendy's crew. It is mostly completed now, and it looks so much better. I also hired a handyman to put more screws in the subfloor and take a look at the closet. The handyman (and the painter) agreed that the drywall fix was done poorly, and my best bet was tearing it down and redoing it. But since I was really out of time at that point I will live with it for now. My suggestion to Angie's list members would be to hire Wendy for cleaning only. I think she did a good job cleaning my kitchen and removing contact paper. She does a poor job anticipating costs and setting expectations.
I wanted the opportunity to respond to the provider's comments shirking responsibility for what occurred. The age and condition of the place should have been apparent to an experienced provider, and not used as an excuse for not completing the job as scheduled and agreed upon on time. When she first came to give the estimate she downplayed the work required. The biggest issue for me was that the place was filthy and there was no time left to fix the issues before the painters came. The provider downplays the horror of the situation that was left...as if staining on subfloor is what I was complaining about. There were drifts of drywall dust in layers especially in the closet, and I pointed it out to her specifically. How that can later be called "staining" is beyond me, as staining isn't typically centimeters deep. There is no way you would put carpet over that. There are multiple falsehoods in what the provider stated, most glaringly in what she put in quotes and attributed to me. I never use the word "Girl" in conversation when addressing someone, so I most certainly never said to her "No Girl the house is great". I am appalled that she would accuse me of trying to milk her for more work than we contracted for - which was to get the house in move in condition before th
"I understand the amount of stress you were in when you bought a mess of a condo, that was extremely over priced with hidden dilemmas. The condition of the condo reminded me of a mill house, painted over solid (Thick) to hide the imperfections. The wall paper that you expressed in the kitchen was wall papered over and painted each time x's 4. Not including seams were sheetrocked over per layer. Had it had only been one layer, the price would had been understandable. However, when finished, skimmed right, and painted, that kitchen looked awesome. As for the drywall work, the only thing that would had fixed those area you expressed would be removing the sheet rock and replacing it; in lame terms, "starting over" that is when I said you weren't paying enough, had you had i would had bought the material and had it done right. I don't band aid over things, and you knew that. You weren't willing to buy the material, and said for me to do everything but that. I would had been willing to do that for you, with no extra charge for labor, had you had bought the materials. I even removed all the caulk(where the previous owner had no caulking experience and caked it all over the place filling in holes behind the baseboards because the sheetrock was to short. When I re-caulked, the areas were amazing.) Honestly the baseboards needed removing and replacing, which would had made the walls look more modern like you were going for. The walls were sanded by my crew, that was the white stuff you seen on the sub-floor. Sheetrock dust is extremely hard to get up, after we swept it up, disposed it, and used 5 gallon bucket and rags, on our hands and knees wiping and drying, it still appears. Removing all smear debris on sub-floor is not at all impossible, but when you have carpet going down, it isn't necessary. The clean up was at the best of ones ability, for the dust from Sheetrock does get in the grain of wood. I believe this job was one of those jobs that I should of never taken. You did a great job making me feel sorry for you, that's why I offered to help you out at such a lower price than the other 2 quotes you had gotten before me. The price I gave you seemed great I know, like God had sent me to save your finances, because there was so much more you wanted to do to the home. I understood, and then you started to drag me, wanting way more than you had paid for, or that we had agreed upon initially. I understand what you were saying, but at that point I wasn't gonna do anymore. I wasn't doing your whole house for $2000. NO Wait, I did do that, didnt I? When you explained you had a guy that would come and fix the areas you were so upset about, I offered to pay for that man to come. You in disarray, looked at me and said, "Wow you would do that?" I clearly explained to you, that you satisfaction was my guarantee and I would do anything to make sure you were satisfied, so I gave $700 back to pay for the other handyman you had spoken of. At this point i felt you were nit picking, because considering its condition upon my arrival, the house looked awesome, but YOU WANTED MORE! And because the whole house is linked together like a puzzle, you felt i was responsible for every square inch, and that wasn't what we agreed upon, nor what you paid for. As for the debris i left, I explained to you that that was not debris, but extra material that you should save and you agreed. I began to leave and asked you if you were gonna leave a bad review on Angieslist, and you exclaimed, "No, Girl.. We are good, all but those few things, the house is great." Then I left, you were happy, then you leave this post. You texted me and said that if I gave you a full refund that you would remove this post, and I clearly stated, "There's No Way!" I hope your house is great and everything works out for you. Bad things happen to good people, and this is a perfect example! May God bless you, always and your condo!"
