I called Georgia Air Force technician Weldon Rogers on the recommendation of my neighbor. My air conditioner hadn't been functioning properly, it would not blow cold air, and with it starting to get hot outside, I knew we needed to get something done. Weldon was very friendly, explaining to me what he was doing every step of the way during the diagnostic visit. He figured out the problem with the Thermal Expansion Valve, and told me that our unit might still be under warranty, so he called the manufacturer for the replacement part. The manufacturer was being difficult, told Weldon it would take several weeks to ship to his office, or they could ship to a distribution center south of Atlanta (nearly 50 miles away). Weldon went and picked up the part without charging us for travel time, as he picked it up while in the area on another call. When he came back for the repair, it took 2 1/2 hours. He installed the part, replaced my air filter and some pipe insulation, and gave me a few tips on keeping the unit in good working order. It took 8 days from the diagnostic to the project completion, with the only hold up being on part of the manufacturer of my air conditioning unit. The diagnostic visit cost $79, and the repair was only $225 since the part was still under warranty. I will most definitely call Georgia Air Force again if we ever have any other problems and I certainly recommend them to anyone!
Description of Work: 5/11/2011 - Diagnostic Visit: Technician inspected my outdoor air conditioning unit first, testing for various problems that could be causing my unit not to function, then came inside and checked the indoor thermostat and components in the attic as well. Determined problem was the Thermal Expansion Valve (TXV). Called manufacturer of my outdoor unit to determine whether part needed was still under warranty. 5/19/2011 - Repair Visit: Technician replaced the Thermal Expansion Valve, air filter, and some refrigerant pipe insulation that was never installed when the house was built. Offered advice on how best to keep the unit working properly.
