I was referred to this company by another vendor that I highly respect. However, I choose them out of a few others because the owner is a licensed arborist. That was a huge benefit, especially since I needed advice as to which trees would be best to remove based on sunlight and position of other plants in the yard. However, several things weren't delivered to the highest standards, which I didn't realize until much later.
1. They were supposed to mulch up the trees and spread it around the yard, but put the chippings in one spot.. I brought this to the owner's attention. What he offered a few days later was to bring clippings from another job and dump it at the end of the driveway. I refused because I would not have been able to move the pile. The agreement was to put the clippings in the bare spots because I wanted to avoid putting grass in those sections of the yard.
2. During the job, they began to put the debris on the city's property behind my yard before I stopped them. That could've resulted in a fine.
3. They removed trees that I didn't want removed. Before I could stop them, the trees had already been cut down.
A few marked for removal were left in place because the foreman suggested that they were good trees.
4. They put their equipment on my newly landscaped flower beds before I asked them to move it. Off all the places in the yard, I'm not sure why they needed to put their equipment in a nice flower bed, instead of on the grass.
5. They put in a patio and all looked fine before they left. However, weeks later, I discovered that they hadn't built drainage into the concrete, which causes water to back up. I've since asked the contractor who poured the concrete what can be done. He had the audacity to grade the yard to facilitate drainage for a fee, which in unreasonable, especially since they should have done this work in the first place. Then, I never heard back from him.
Now, it's necessary for me to spend extra time and money to correctly grade the yard, as well as correctly landscape the yard to prevent other issues.
