VERGE Painting, Siding, & Decks

We contracted with Verge & Associates to paint our new screened porch August 2017. We chose them because of the good reviews and one of the owners is a member of our church. We must have been assigned their worst crew because they were sloppy and cut corners everywhere possible. We paid extra for an extra coat of paint since it was new construction. They did come back and address some of my complaints but I decided to cut my losses and just not use them anymore. This month we were having windows installed so we were removing the screens to do the prep work and discovered some of the paint on the trim was already peeling and there were areas where the white caulk was showing. I called the office and left a message but no one returned my call. We were in a time crunch to finish the prep work so we sanded and repainted ourselves. Several days later I called the office again just to voice my complaint. Someone did call and offer to come out and look at it but we had already repainted so there was no need for them to come out. They didn't seem to be concerned that we were not happy. I guess they have enough business they don't need ours.

We did call them for an estimate, we did get an estimate from them, but we did not end up using them. There was no cost to the estimate. They were actually early to give us the quote. The only problem was that the quote was very high, so we wound up not doing the work.

Verge and Associates was one of four bids I solicited, chosen for thoroughness of quote, Angie's List reviews, and Consumer Reports ratings of materials that would be used for the work. Tim Smith managed the entire job smoothly and professionally. This was a fairly big job, and materials delivery and work crew scheduling were well coordinated. The quality of the work done is excellent. Tim was very responsive to any concerns/issues I raised. When it came time to pay, Tim informed me that the crew had noted one of the upper floor window frames had rotted wood and needed to be replaced, something I couldn't see. Verge made the repair at no additional cost. Wow. I'm thrilled with my "new" home! Verge will be the first bid I get when it comes time to replace my back deck in a couple of years.

Verge came with high recommendations and we were very pleased with our experience! Laura in the office was very friendly, helpful, informative, and polite. Shane, the project manager was very experienced, professional and was there to answer my phone calls and any questions I had. Gerardo, head of the painting crew was also very friendly, caring, and there to answer any of my questions. His crew also did a great job in the time frame promised to me in a very professional manner. I would definitely recommend this company to anyone who needs their house painted. Thank you!!

I met with Shane at my home on June 2 to review a major project - replace all windows, doors, siding and insulation at my home. More than 5 weeks later I still don't have a quote. I called numerous times with no call back. I have emailed twice. The only response I got was three weeks after the consultation when I was told he hadn't even started on it yet.

It was not good. I did not feel that they honored most of the commitments that they made. They said that they would scrape any paint that needed to be scraped before they painted over it, but they didn't do that. They said that they would replace any rotted wood, that might be an additional cost if anything was found. I knew one place that was rotted and they painted right over it. I had to go back and ask them about that particular spot, and sure enough if I put a finger there he can tell that the wood was completely soft and they had just painted over it. They did go back and fix that spot. That happened to be on ground level so what other spots could there have been that they didn't catch. I had expensive covered gutters on the house and I did not want them to put the ladder up against the gutter on the garage. I even had a brace to put on the ladder so that the ladder would hit the roof but not the gutter. They went ahead and put the ladder up against the gutters and scratched the gutters, which to this day are still scratched. They were supposed to keep the windows and doors closed so that my cats couldn't get out since they were having the work and I wasn't here. I came home and all the windows and doors were wide open. Weather got bad and I asked them about other concerns because I could see there was someone painting in the rain, Sure enough, they painted in the rain. It was a nightmare! The workers were here but not the manager.

Use high quality paints and do an excellent job prepping the house before painting it.  Very neat workers.

I used Verge Painting and Siding for years for painting and repairs to a house I recently sold, so when it came time for me to move into a condo that needed to be painted before I moved in I naturally called Tim with Verge again.  Tim and Laura (in the office) worked with me to ensure my condo could be painted in one day the day after I closed.  Tim's crew arrived early and prepared to get started.  The entire crew was courteous, professional and worked tirelessly to get the project completed in one day.  I don't think I could have asked for better service!  I will continue to use Verge Paining & Siding for all my painting.

We did have a 10 day delay in getting started due to the loss of a crew, but when they did show up, they showed up to work.  They did not slack off for the whole 3 1/2 days they were in the house.  They always arrived when they said they would.  We have a lot of dust left, but that's to be expected when you have to remove wallpaper in bathrooms.  I loved working with Patty on the colors and the colors look great!  When we went to Sherwin-Williams to get some larger paint samples before they started, the paint salesman took one look at the colors and said 'You must be working with a professional designer on these colors'.  We have used Verge before and we definitely will use them again when we need to have the outside painted.

Bobby was excellent to work with - frequent communication so we stayed updated on the project, coordinated with contractors for other projects we were having done at our house so things went smoothly for everyone, checked in on the work daily, and worked with us to save us money. He stayed on top of everything so we didn't have to worry about anything. I will definitely recommend this company to my friends and use them in the future.

Proposal was very detailed after bad experience with some other potential providers and all inclusive. Replacement of rotten trim and painting of the house was done to our full satisfaction. Would have gotten "A" ratings throughout but the job on the deck was not done to our satisfaction which brought some of the ratings down.

I feel it did not go well.  I had a lot of damage done to my house during this job.  Please see attached pictures.  I am having a lot of trouble getting final paperwork from this business at this time-revised contract, acceptable lien releases from their company, from their subcontractors and from their material suppliers.

These guys are GREAT!  Tim came by on a SUNDAY in response to my call, completed the estimate while he was there (competitor took 2 weeks to complete) and scheduled the work.  The company was very responsive to my need to delay by 2 days since the flooring guys were not finished.  Daniel showed up on time with a crew to do the work and was finished in less than 2 days.  Cleanup was perfect.  I like them so much they are coming back in October to paint the outside of the house.

Someone came out to look at the job and provided a quote by email.  I called the cell on his business card to accept and left a message, no returned call.  Sent email some days later to accept, no return email. Then about a week later, I called the office who set a time for the painter to show.  Painter showed per arranged time.  Nice fellow.  Painted per the quote but was messy.  There were paint splashes on the siding in a couple of places and paint drips on the deck below the cedar shake roofs.  Doug (?) came out to collect $ and touched up the siding splashes.
Overall, the job was done but I was not impressed.  It takes a bit to impress me.  I told the painter I was picky and if he couldn't satisfy a picky person to admit it and send someone else  (he didn't). If I hire out a job, I don't expect to come behind and correct anything, like drips on the deck.  It's a rarity that I actually get that kind of service.  So my ratings take that into consideration or the ratings would be lower.
The price was well below the other quote I received, however, the other quote was for 2 coats, Verge for one coat.  But the other quote was way higher even at that.
I'd use them again based on price but would be sure to impress upon them my expectations.

All went well and as expected

Verge & Associates did an outstanding job on several projects at our home.  Joe from Verge was very consultative and professional, advising us on deck design/construction, painting colors, etc..  He was also very helpful in working with us to provide necessary information to acquire approval from our HOA and city building office, which required a variance application/hearing to obtain the necessary permits for the work to be done.  The Verge staff was proactive in communicating about the timing of work (despite having to deal with extended bad weather), and the Company delivered without fail in a timely, high quality, and professional manner.  They always left a clean worksite, and were respectful of neighbors and surrounding areas.  Joe and the rest of the Verge staff constantly followed up to ensure that work was done to our satisfaction (when in fact they always exceeded expectations), and we were thrilled with the final product. 
We did not extensively shop our projects, as Verge came highly recommended and were highly rated in various publications.  We believe we received exceptional value for our home improvement spend.  Overall, Verge & Associates (especially Joe, our project manager) were a pleasure to work with and we will definitely call upon them again.

It was terrible.  The estimator came out and told us our siding was in horrible shape and we shouldn't even waste money on paint.  We should just get new siding.  Hmmm....a company who sells siding telling us we need new siding.  Funny how the other six companies (some who also sold siding) told us we would need some boards replaced but that overall we would be able to have the house looking great with a good paint job.  I went ahead and asked Verge to quote both the paint and new siding.  The guy said he would, he left and we never heard from them again.  I highly recommended going with someone else!

They did an excellent job. It did take a little longer than they originally planned but it was worth it. They were friendly and professional.
