Please pass the following information on to the owners of the company regarding my recent experience with TOP SOUTH. I have never had a better experience as the one I had with working with your company. As a consumer I have very high expectations when I make very important transactions. Your company exceeded my every expectation. Everyone I worked with beginning with Jaime Fitzpatrick to the two gentlemen who installed my vanity tops and anyone from your company that I came in contact with.
Jamie was very knowledgeable tentative patient personable professional and paid attention to details. She knows her job and does it well. I cannot say enough about Jamie she is absolutely an asset to your company. She was thorough followed up with me and did what she said she was going to do. The scheduling department contacted me in a timely fashion as to when I can expect the installers to come. The installers arrived on time did thorough job and were neat and clean. I am extremely impressed and happy with the installation on my vanity tops.
I can only say that you are only TOP SOUTH but you are "tops in the south"yes pun intended:-)

The installers arrived on time and installed both countertops.  After a brief inspection I paid the installer the balance owed by check.  Upon further inspection I saw there was a crack in the marble.  The installers were still in the driveway and contacted their supervisor by phone.  They gave me my check back and advised I could pay the balance when satisfied.  They sent another crew out several days later thinking they could polish out what they thought was a surface crack. This was not possible. I was on a tight schedule as I had cabinet refacers from another company scheduled to arrive within a week of the countertop installation.  After several conversations and a visit with Ben Ortiz at Top South the countertops were replaced and look great.  Here is what apparently happened.  The salesman that sold me the countertops took me downstairs to view the available marble patterns.  Apparently the slab I looked a had a crack in it.  Being a layman I was not looking for damage in the material.  No one advised me to examine the material  for damage.  At over $100/sq ft I was most certainly not under the impression I would be receiving second rate material.  According to Ben the material can have "fractures" but when I viewed the material the salesman is supposed to point that out before selling it to you.  Ben had me view new material for approval and replaced the countertop within my time schedule.  They did an excellent job of turning around a potentially bad situation.  b.t.w.  I was informed the salesman "is no longer with Top South".  There have apparently been similar situations that occurred.
I would use Top South again.

First the sales staff (Melissa) was great and extremely helpful. All the problems start with installation. The works was broken up over a few installs due to the timing of our renovation. The first install of the main kitchen went well. The master bathroom quarts was like a comedy show, 3 guys to install one small counter top and they could not even cut the back splash straight which we did not see until they were done and everything was glued in place. Then they brought the island when we told them not to and when they finally installed the island there were several spots where you can see major flaws in the finishing work. I wait 9 days and numerous emails before they can even set a date to come look at the finishing issues then say they may have to take the island back not that it has been glued to the island. I heard mixed stories about Top South and purchased from them because the sales person was great and they had the only slabs we liked in a particular granite, but the installation and service is a crap shoot at best. Would try my best to buy some where else in the future.

We bought granite countertops from Home Depot and Top South was the contractor provided by Home Depot for the fabrication work.
The measurement and installation went very well. All of the individuals involved in those elements of the process were very considerate, answered any and all questions we had, and everything occurred as had been predicted from the standpoint of timing.  The installers did an excellent job and we couldn't be happier with their work and craftsmanship.
The main issue we had with the work relates to planning and related quality control in the fabrication process. We are well aware of the fact that granite, being a natural stone, comes with potentially inherent flaws in the surface, including pitting. The job called for over 60 sq ft of granite to be fabricated from 2 slabs that totalled about 108 sq ft.  As far as we have been able to detect, there is not a single flaw in any of the granite surface (apart from required seams), except on the most obvious and visible portion of the countertop:  the 4.5 ft front edge of the breakfast bar top. When I asked why the only flawed section of granite had not been placed where it would be less obvious (such as a back edge against a wall or behind the cooktop, I was told that the cutting was computer controlled and, apparently, not selected or reviewed by a human.  I was also told that, as fabricators, they do not perform surface repairs and that an attempt to repair the pitting would only make it look worse than it does.
It seems to me that it would not be unreasonable for the fabrication process to include providing an appropriate level of consideration to where in the design scheme the pieces would end up.  Now, anyone who sits at the countertop, including all of our guests, get to see and feel the pitting in the granite.
If I undertake another countertop project in the future, I will either select my own fabricator after an appropriate level of research or spend some time researching anyone recommended by Home Depot or any other retailer.

We bought the granite countertops through IKEA.  Top South is the company they use.  I was 100% satisfied with their work.  Bobby did our granite layout.  He really listened to all my questions and concerns since our slabs were not uniform in their markings.  He did a great job giving us the look we wanted.

I am very happy with the service I received from Top South. My sales person was very professional, the installers were prompt and did a great job. I found the company information from google, and was attracted to them by their prices. I visited the showroom and was taken back to the warehouse. The selection was amazing!  I had been shopping around for a while, and knew exactly what I was looking for. The price was $5.00 cheaper than the "Big Box Stores". I put a down payment for the material, three days later a rep was at my home measuring, and a week later the granite was installed. When the crew got there they were very efficient. Overall, they did an excellent job.

It was a complicated job because the two vanities are at an odd angle around two walls which ate up extra granite.  There is a 4 inch by 80 inch back splash on each vanity.  They did a great job of installing it.  There are no seams in the angle which they could have done but rather they just cut it all perfectly to go around the angle.  We are very pleased with how it looks.  The sink cutouts fit perfectly and I have seen some that do not in some houses.  We had a terrible time deciding what stone to use as the tile floor is a very busy variety of travertine and seemed to clash with everything.  I made several visits to their showroom until I felt comfortable with my choice.  They were very patient with me, answered all of my e-mails with written quotes in between visits and did a fantastic job of fabricating.  I would definitely recommend them and would use them again.  If you don't find what you like in their showroom they can get any type of stone from one of their suppliers which is what we ended up doing.  I visited several granite showrooms in town and though their prices were fairly similar, I felt the most comfortable with TopSouth.  They have been in business a long time and are one of the survivors in this economy.  They must be doing something right!  TopSouth and Granite Direct Warehouse are the same to the best of my knowledge.

We're getting our house ready to put on the market to sell and we received quotes for new kitchen countertops from 3 companies, including Top South. A neighbor, who is in home construction, recommended Top South and, even though they had a "B" rating on Angie's List, we went ahead and asked for a quote. The price quoted was almost the same as one of the other firms, but, with the recommendation of our friend, and the fact that their office/showroom was considerably closer to us, we decided to give them the job.
Everyone we dealt with was extremely professional and down-to-earth (no high pressure). We picked out our countertop material and scheduled the work. A few days later, they called and set up the first appointment (for old countertop removal and measurements). The guy showed up at the scheduled time and did a quick job. A week later, our new countertops arrived and the crew had them installed in about 2 hrs. Everyone did a great job...the countertops look fantastic...and there were no problems. I would recommend Top South to anyone looking for a countertop replacement job.

Price: We got a great deal - 40% off due to the purchase of our cabinets. Quality: We love the granite that was installed, and that it does not have any seams. The thickness is great and the edging job was done well. They had to come back twice to install a piece of granite because they cut the first piece wrong. Responsiveness/Punctuality/Professionalism: There were issues with the scheduling of the installation on our project. I had scheduled about a month in advance, and got a call (after 6pm on a weekday) that I had a balance due after the template showed that there was more granite needed than I had already prepaid for. I paid that balance the next day, however Top South took the liberty to reschedule my installation, pushing it back, and did not notify me. When I called to confim my installation date and receipt of the payment I had to leave numerous voicemails before receiving a call back only to be told I'd been pushed back. When I called to inform them that the cabinets installers made a mistake and that I needed someone to come and re-template 2 of the 4 templates I had done already, I also requested that the installation date for the other 2 pieces not be changed (these two pieces had the sink cutouts and my husband and I were living without sinks while we waited for these - and I was 4 months pregnant and not feeling well and preferred to eat at home, hard to do without sinks). They assured me this could be done, and the new templates were made. I had to call them again (why they don't call me I don't know) to confirm the installation dates again, and was then informed (after numerous voicemails) that once again I had been pushed back, by over a week and a half. I asked them to reschedule the 2 pieces that had not changed for the date I originally had, and they informed me that there was nothing that they could do. I asked to speak to the scheduler and was transferred to Benjamin's line. I left voicemails for Benjamin and never received a response. My father was the only one lucky enough to speak with Benjamin. This was because the installers came with a piece that was not cut correctly to the template and had a walkie talkie system that connected to Benjamin. My father had to talk to him over walkie talkie and get assurance that they would be back with the new granite piece quickly. I also made attempts to call my Denna (my salesperson), Joann, and Benjamin, all with voicemails being left and return calls not made until days later, if at all. Summary: Quality of the grantie was good. Templaters were great. Poor job on following the templates made to ensure accuracy of what was delivered. Extremely poor job of scheduling installations. Poor communication. Good luck getting anyone on the phone or to return your voicemails.

After having written four positive reviews of companies we hired for the remodeling of our home, I was disappointed when writing my review of Top South for the granite counter tops we purchased for our kitchen. Although we were satisfied with the company for a purchase made more than 10 years ago, this experience with Top South was very disappointing because they fell short of the mark in the key areas of fabrication of the counter tops, installation, and customer service. This company also sells under the name “Granite Direct Warehouse”. Installation and Customer Service Problems The salesperson told us that Top South would template the kitchen on Wednesday and then install the completed tops the following Wednesday. Since they failed to call me, I called them on the morning of the promised installation day only to be told that we were not on their schedule. This required a call to the sales person who said he “didn’t understand” why we weren’t scheduled on the desired installation date. He called back to tell me the tops would be installed the next day and that I would receive a phone call giving me the installation time. The company called after 4:00 PM telling me I should expect a 9:00-11:00AM arrival the next morning. I believe the company could have called earlier than 4:00 PM for an installation appointment the next morning. Counter top Fabrication Problems Top South laid 2 of the 3 pieces of the granite when I noticed the third piece didn’t have the edge profile that we had both requested and paid for. Obviously if either the fabricators OR installers had conducted any kind of quality check, this error would have been caught. The installers checked their paperwork (apparently for the first time), verified this fact, and then asked if I wanted them to proceed installing the counter tops with the incorrect edge profile. After telling them “no”, they called their supervisor who apparently didn’t have a ready answer so the three installers waited on a return call. They told me there was a possibility that they could put the correct edge profile on the granite and return late in the afternoon—but then said the installation could be delayed until Saturday because they “were booked solid” on Friday. So because of their own mistake, Top South was considering pushing our job to the back of the line which compounded the already multiple customer service problems they exhibited. The salesperson called later that afternoon to tell me they would re-fabricate the piece and return that afternoon sometime around 5:00PM. There was no follow-up call to verify the piece had been properly fabricated and to confirm a more precise installation time. They arrived at 6:00 PM to install the re-fabricated piece. Salesperson Problems Our salesperson failed to request 2 back splash pieces that I very specifically requested. So when the installers came out for the second time, they didn’t have these items and, of course, couldn’t install them. The installation people had to request that these back splash components be fabricated and a third installation visit was required. Then, when I asked the installation scheduler whether one particular back splash piece had been polished on 4 sides (as was required), he assured me it was. When the installers arrived, of course that piece was polished only on 3 sides. Summary I would not recommend Top South as a provider for counter tops because they felt short in all the key areas that were important to me: product manufacturing, installation (repeated visits required), and customer service. If one selected this company, he should require a huge discount and should allow extra time for repeated installation attempts. Though the ultimate installation was fine, I had to serve as the company’s quality control officer and was left wondering whether the job would ultimately be installed correctly during the company’s 3 visits. The installers were the only bright spot in Top South’s operation and they did a good job in correcting mistakes that others had made though they had to make 3 visits because of others' mistakes. Top South has many competitors for granite counter tops and I would recommend that individuals seeking counter tops should look elsewhere.

Salesman came to the house and provided an emailed estimate and detailed project specifications within 24 hours. The template guy was very professional as well. Both the granite and corian installation teams (2 separate crews) were clearly skilled pros. Pricing was very competitive as well. I couldn't be happier.

The quality of their work was excellent. However, their communication wasn't so good. They didn't seem to communicate very well. They would wait until the day before to call and set up an appointment. There was no reason to wait that long. They weren't able to accommodate when I would request times weeks in advance. The quality of their work and the price were both really great.
