Southern Environmental Service is very upfront and honest and gave me a very detailed report of what he found and what he would have to do to correct the situation.

I placed the call seeking estimates on Friday, May 10, and they had someone come out and measure that afternoon. I had a price quote by Saturday and the work was done on Tuesday. I requested estimates from three companies -- and told all three that I was doing this. I do think I got the price I did because they wanted to be competitive with the other companies. Estimates ranged from $1,500 (not including the air-quality test) to $2,400.

Tom was quick to come out and provide a quote that was the best priced of the 3 that we received. He seemed very knowledgeable and was very accommodating. The team came at the scheduled time and got the work completed on time. Francisco the supervisor took the time to walk me through the work and allow me to carefully inspect it after they had completed. He even left the air filter at my house for an extra day to ensure that the air was carefully scrubbed. Great work all around from a very professional crew!

I was very surprised to see all the people who showed up to complete the asbestos abatement in our home. The crew went right to work, taping up light fixtures, putting up plastic sheeting and readying the house for the actual abatement. They had their protective gear and the proper equipment. They were able to complete this project IN ONE DAY. Upon my return to the house at the end of the day, they had cleaned up well, including removing the sheeting and the tape from the lighting fixtures. I highly recommend this company. Great work for a reasonable price.

This was the first time I had ever used them. Everything went fine. I thought they did a fine job. They were thorough and did what they said they were going to do. They cleaned up everything fine.

Excellent. The company is licensed and certified by EPA. They sent an estimator immediately, and the job was scheduled immediately upon my acceptance of their proposal. Later I had to move the schedule out a few weeks and they rescheduled immediately without hesitation. I was informed by email twice the week before their arrival. The crew showed up on time and setup the interior of the kitchen, and also showed me around prior to undertaking the work as they sealed the room. They removed two layers of vinyl, mastic, and plywood, all the way to the slats in the subfloor. Both the air quality inspector and my floor contractor were impressed by the job. Their team was outstanding and very hard-working. All the appropriate EPA documentation was emailed to me within one day.

A representative came out and looked at the crawlspace and the attic space. We got a fairly quick estimate on the price. I don't know that the price was the lowest, because we were pressed for time and needed to quickly get on the schedule for removal. The crew arrived, some of them were detailed to the crawlspace and some to the attic and they were out of there, in about 4 hours. I didn't watch the entire process of removal, but inspection of the crawlspace that had a large amount of flaking of the insulation, indicates that they did a good job of removing all of the asbestos, including that on the dirt floor. The initial inspection turned up another 30 ft of pipe and while initially, they were going to charge me for this, a call to their office resulted in their waiving the additional cost. So, they came in right on estimate. I think they did a good job.

When my dining room ceiling collapsed late one evening, spilling plasterboard and large quantities of rock wool insulation (possibly containing asbestos with lung-irritating dust) all over the place, Larry Watts responded within an hour to my emergency voice mail message. He had a crew of five at my home, with hazardous material suits and equipment, by 8:30 the next morning, and cleanup was complete by 1:30 pm. The crew was excellent, knew exactly what to do, and left the place totally free of dust and debris.

Showing great respect and responsibility to the asbestos abatement industry, and compassion to me and my family who have been exposed to asbestos due to the negligence of another contractor, Southern Environmental Services deserves my gratitude. The crew was clean, hardworking, prompt, and professional. They arrived on schedule, performed the clean UP, and left my home much safer than before.
