Albert was great- came out and gave an incredibly detailed quote which allowed me to make smart choices to align to my budget. His team of painters worked long hours and were incredibly good about details and trim.  they finished a difficult job in a week and made my move that much more successful

Very well. Crew are hard workers and very polite. Only thing I suggest, they wear shoe covers as they did track dirt & leaves on my light carpet.

The team of painters were here for seven or eight days and worked diligently every day.  They took their time, prepped everything well and did it right.  We loved Rogelio who was in charge of the crew.  He was very courteous and professional.  He also really knew his stuff and corrected some of the caulking mistakes the french door installer had made. We have more windows to repalce and we will definitely call on Overeducated Painters to paint them. Our $6,000 cost of service includes the high end paint we chose.

They did a good job.  They did have to come back to fix some paint behind the shutters, a minor problem, but they were very responsive and came out on short notice.  The price was good.

Excellent experience!!  Albert and his crew were incredibly professional.  Matter of fact we were able to leave the crew in our house while we stepped away.  Every crew member is completely trustworthy and they were great with our pets.  Albert went through every line item of the estimate and provided us advice to help us fit our budget.  Really happy with the final product.  We will be using them again to paint the outside of our house next!

We had a tight deadline and Albert McDonald quickly assessed the space and provided a cost estimate. Two days later, he and his crew were fast at work painting the entire inside of the loft. They tackled a 40-foot wall with ease and did an excellent job painting the kitchen cabinets. He could have said no to our insane deadline, but instead he brought forth his best work with friendliness and professionalism. I would definitely hire him again.

They did a great job.  Albert is very up front about cost, and suggested options to reduce the cost.  In addition, he made a great suggestion to install crown molding while having this work done... which we decided to do at a very reasonable price.  The crown and baseboard trim was hand painted and smooth as glass.  This work was performed a several years ago and it still looks fresh, and we haven't and any problems with cracking caulk or paint.

They had to finish the job in three days because I was moving and they committed to do that. They gave me an estimate and he said that they would get the job done. They did not finish in three days, they painted the front porch the wrong color. I definitely would not recommend them. I am very unhappy with this work.
Response from Overeducated Painters
"Wow - very impressive. Member was under a time crunch - she was moving in 3 days... she was not even going to have time to finish loading her PODS. I offered her the use of one of my painters at an hourly rate to help her with her packing for almost two days (12.5 total man hours). Because of being one man short we did not finish before she left. But did so afterwards. Without our help - she would not have moved on time. There was no - if you don't finish in 3 days time you do not get paid at all - in our agreement - or my contract. She has only paid $600 of her $2500 bill and is very close to having to be dealt with in a legal manner since we finished the work 5 months ago. The front porch being the wrong color is a correct statement - but out of context - Member set out the paint for my painters and they had it matched and painted it. Apparently with the move being so hectic - she put out the wrong paint. So yes technically we did paint it the wrong paint. We corrected this - at no extra labor charge to her - even though it cost us. She also said we lost her interior security window screws when we removed them. Things were very hectic during her move so she forgot that we did not remove them - her handyman did that."

Albert responding quickly to our call, provided a detailed estimate and his team was able to start the project immediately.  They took their time to complete the job right since our siding required alot more chaulking than expected.  Carpenter worked with us to make any corrections.  Overall, I would highly recommend this company and would use them again.

He came out, gave a great estimate and did the work. He did a teriffic job! They cleaned up very well and the job was extremely professional. There are some metal railings on my porch that previous painters did not do a great job on. He sanded it down, repainted it, and it looks great! It looks absolutely teriffic! I am a busy person and they disrupted me very, very little and I appreciated that.I am very happy with their services.

We were replacing the leaky roof and wanted to coordinate the painters to paint over the damaged interior walls.  We planned on vacating our home for 5 days.  We found Overeducated Painters initially from a google search.  We scheduled an estimate.  I was away at work but spoke with him over the phone before he arrived.  We discussed what I was looking for and he met my wife at the house.  Within a day he emailed me a quote and a week later I called him to schedule his services to coincide with the roofers.  As the days moved closer to the start date, the set start date was slightly changing due to the fact that the roofers were tearing out the skylights and installing the studs for the painters to install the drywall.  Albert was fine with this because his painters were still working on their last job and couldn't start on Monday anyway.  I finalize the skylight job with the roofers by Tuesday and informed Albert he could bring his crew in any time after Tuesday.  Albert wasn't able to bring in his crew until late Thursday afternoon.  They completed their job by Friday

Pros: The quality of work was excellent.  The price was on par with most other painters.  Emailed quote was nice

Cons:  Communication issue between requested services and what was performed.  Only 1 Crew

The issues I had was the quote didn't reflect what I explained to Albert.  Perhaps there was some communication issue.  I blame myself and Overeducated Painters.  The quote was to include the drywall, ceiling color to match the walls and the paint.  After the fact, the drywall was additional charge, the ceiling paint was standard white and the paint was additional to the quote.  If you look carefully on the quote, it says labor only.  I would assume you would want to quote a job accurately with the cost of paint in it.  The other 3 painting companies did.  With only a limited crew available, I had to move my family back into the house a couple days later.  If you're the type who's on a schedule, this can play havoc on  your timeline.

I do not recommend this company.  If you are going to use Overeducated painters, I recommend you have a detailed statement of work and clear expecatation written out.

Response from Overeducated Painters
"Unfortunately member had a very busy schedule and could not meet with me personally. Even though he and I had picked a time when he said he would be available. When I got there - I had to call him and talk with him on the phone while looking at the areas that needed work. Being there face to face is always important when you are needing to hire a contractor (or work for a client). Miscommunications are bound to happen. The work we were performing did not require any member of the family to be out of the house. They were supposed to be minor drywall repairs in just the kitchen/family room. We are used to working with people living in their homes. We take proper precautions (plastic to seal up the rooms, vacuuming while sanding, etc) so that there is minimal disturbance - so I would not have recommended them to be out of the home, there is no need. The member informed me on Wed after I told him we would definitely be starting Thursday, that his family was staying in a Hotel cause of the noise from the roofing work and they decided to stay while we were working on the family/kitchen room. I told him it was unnecessary. We have 3 painting teams (not 1) and all teams were busy on projects. His project was next in line for the 1st team to finish up, and we got over there as soon as possible. Unfortunately in the contracting business we can not can not always start or stop at an exact time, there are many unforeseen delays. Like with the member's roofing team. The work they did created more cracks in the ceiling as well as their framing that was done to fill in the holes of the skylights was not properly done - when the new piece of drywall was in place - it would not sit flush, the new piece stuck up on one corner so high it would have looked awful. We contacted him , told him the issue - as well as the new cracks that we noticed and he and I agreed on an extra $90 to cover the labor costs. These issues took two of my guys an extra half day labor to fix correctly so that our patchwork would look like it was never there. Things like this are what happens in contracting... these delays caused us to delay our next client. They are unfortunate... but happen and most clients understand. As for the not listing the paint - it was in writing on his estimate - as well as there was a column for paint costs that did not have anything listed in it. This was because he and I did not have a chance to discuss what type and cost level of paint he wanted since he was not there for the estimate. Paint costs vary greatly now. Some of my clients want cheap $25 a gallon Duron and others want $75 a gallon Farrow & Ball paint. He and I did not come to an agreement on paint till after his acceptance of the bid - in which I mentioned the various costs per gallon of the paint. In our conversation about the paint cost after he got the invoice - he told me that he chose me because I was some $200 less than the other lowest bid. When we added in the paint cost - we were much closer to the competition. Since we were not there to go over the estimate in person... he had just skimmed to the bottom line cost of all the estimates. Angie's List members I am warning you to not do that. When you are walking through showing your contractor what you want done... you might miss something showing one contractor something... that you showed the others, or they might miss something in the estimate even though you mentioned it. Always ask for a detailed estimate... so you can compare apples to apples. That is why we do our estimates on a spread sheet, we line list and cost each individual item in each room (trim, wall, repairs, crown, windows, doors, priming, paint cost etc..). That way you will know if your ceiling in the master bedroom is included (there is a price there)... or how much your paint costs. :)"

It went ok, no worse or better than your typical painters.  I felt compelled to write this review because I was led to believe that they were the BEST painters ever, and they're just not all that.  In fact, when getting the estimate, the owner made fun of the painting job that previously-used painters had done, and remarked how his guys would do such a better job.  Well, I never saw the owner again, he certainly wasn't on the job site while the work was being done and didn't ever see the work after it was completed, so I'm not sure how he "knows" what a great job his guys do.  And his estimate was off - we ended up paying more than what we were led to believe it would cost.  His estimate had them painting only a fraction of the number of doors that needed to be painted (i.e. were in the areas that were being painted.) and somehow I missed it.  If I needed painting work done again I would probably not get an estimate from them but if I did, I would know that the job that they would do would be pretty typical (I needed to point out a number of places that they missed and they don't do a good enough job protecting things, in my case newly stained stair rails) and I would judge the cost accordingly.

Work went well with good communication and scheduling. Daily and job end clean up was good. Bo was very helpful with color suggestions and selection. Will have them back for phase 2 of our remodel.
