 + -1 moreI inherited a 30 year old Howard Miller grandfather clock from my mother. The manufacturer and their authorized service dealers recommend that the movement be lubricated and serviced every two years. I'm positive that the clock was never serviced in the 30 years that my mother had it. Bill made an appointment to come out at 7:30 AM on a Tuesday before he opened his shop. He was right on time. He walked me through all of the steps of the service and my options. He dismantled the face and cleaned and lubricated everything, then put it back together and set it. He also gave me advice on caring for and setting it. Very knowledgeable and patient. It's been two weeks since he left and after a couple of minor adjustments to the pendulum, it's keeping perfect time! (+/- 30 seconds every 7 days, which I believe with a few more tweaks I can get down even further.) HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

 + -1 moreAwful. We've made a point to tell our friends and neighbors of our experience so that no one else wastes their time at this business.
Description of Work: On 5/2/09 I dropped off a large antique cuckoo clock that had stopped working. Bill Davis, the owner took the clock in. I asked him then if the clock would be ready by Father's Day. His response was that he wasn't sure, but they would try. The estimate to repair the clock and refinish it was $300.00. I called numerous times over the next 6 months to check on the clock. One time he told me to stop calling because he wasn't able to work if I called. My husband picked up the clock today and it looks as if it hadn't been touched. He never once called to give us an update; even though we asked numerous times for him to do so. Very unprofessional. He should not have taken the clock in if he was that backed up or if he was unqualified to do this work.

 + -1 moreThe overall experience was excellent. They arrived on time (actually, about 10 minutes early), and evaluated the clock quickly. Then, he presented me with three options: (1) lube the works and see if it will run for a while; (2) rebuild the existing works, or (3)replace the works with a kit designed for that purpose. I chose to see if we could get the clock to operate with its existing mechanisms, and so far it is doing fine. Also, the repairman who came to my home was VERY knowledgeable about clocks. He was immediately able to tell me a great deal of history about this clock, and the fact that the Emperor kits were popular 30 years ago. He also educated me on the various chimes, and provided a primer on the operation of the clock. I highly recommend this company.
Description of Work: About 30 years ago, my grandfather made a grandfather clock from a kit. When he passed away, he left me the clock; it has not run in 1-2 years, so I hired Old Clocks to evaluate it and make recommendations regarding the maintenance and repair.

 + -1 moreI was given Bill's name and number by the moving company in Ohio. I called in the morning and left a message and my call was returned within a couple of hours. We set up an appointment which he was relatively on time for (he took a couple of wrong turns, but called to let me know where he was). He walked me through everything he did, was very pleasant and informative. I will use them for regular servicing in the future.
Description of Work: Needed grandfather clock unpacked, set up, and serviced after moving from Ohio. Disassembled movements, oiled, and cleaned.
