 + -1 moreAfter poking around for a couple of hours, I returned to MeggaMaxx...having not received a phone call...to find out that my car had been done for some time. The head tech...possibly feeling guilty and trying to substantiate the exorbitant charge...walked me through the system and how it works. The wires were cleanly hidden and the front sensors looked solidly mounted. My only gripe was that the rear sensor looked like a high school shop project gone awry. They used some cheesy plastic bracket to cobble the sensor together with my license plate screws. (As ugly as it is...it's still holding months later) So, I leave. A few hundo lighter and invisible to cops. It was within a week of enjoying my new-found powers of stealth in my lil' car that I realized that the techs at MeggaMaxx just installed the hardware of the Blinder kit and didn't even bother to finish the installation by configuring the set up. W**?! I was cruising around with a false sense of confidence the whole time. When you have a water heater installed in your home do they just set it in the closet and leave all the hoses and pipes unattached? I think not. I had to configure everything myself after the fact. Again, these guys have been watching too much West Coast Customs and P*** My Ride on television. I would've been better off taking my car to the blue clowns of Best Buy. MeggaMaxx...MAX attitude...MAX money...MAX let down.
Description of Work: I was referred by a friend to MeggaMaxx to have my Blinder M47 laser jammer kit (http://www.blinder.net/blinder-m47.htm) installed on my bright red (read: cop magnet) Audi A4. This entailed having 3 sensors mounted in the front grill and one over my license plate...along with a control unit under my dash. Having worked in a similar service based mechanic job for several years myself...I assumed that it would take no more than a couple of hours to do with little to no modifications to the car. I'd do it myself but, I getting lazy in my old age besides the fact that the manufacturer of the laser jammer requires that you have it installed by qualified and certified technicians in order for it's warranty/guarantee to be valid. So, after arriving at MeggaMaxx...I was hit with the kind of cooler-than-thou attitude you'd expect from a bunch of West Coast Customs wanna-be's. Upon speaking with their head tech...I was told it would just take a couple of hours and that it would be $400 to complete the work. Cringe. Four hundred bucks is a bit steep for 2-3 hours worth of work in my eyes...especially since it's just mounting a few sensors and running a few wires. But, again...I had to do it in order for the manufacturers warranty/guarantee. So, reluctantly I accepted and went off to lunch with a friend.
